Twitter Blue finally began allowing Android subscribers to customize the app’s navigation bar. Previously known only on iOS, the feature enables you to eliminate the Spaces icon that’s smack-dab in the epicenter of your navigation bar.
Custom navigation has already been available for Twitter Blue users on iOS. With custom navigation, you can decrease the number of displayed tabs to as few as two or keep all five that emerge by default — handy if you’re tired of stretching your finger over the Spaces tab to obtain your DMs and notifications.
Twitter first began testing the Spaces tab on iOS last year and cruised out the account on Android in May, which seemed only to give more inconvenienced users a reason to sign up for the $2.99 / month Blue subscription projected last year.
The Spaces banner displays more data, like Topics. In addition, Twitter Blue subscribers on Android can customize their navigation bars.
But Blue can’t protect us from every feature cluttering the app. For example, Twitter informed last week that it would start including more information in the banner that shows active Spaces at the top of your timeline. While there still isn’t a stage to turn this banner off entirely (neither for free nor for Blue subscribers), it will now show who’s hosting the Space, who shares a tweet in the Space, and relevant Topics.
