Periyar jungle
Periyar jungle is one of the most visited forests in the whole Kerala state, popularly known as the elephant and the tiger reserve. Periyar and the Pamba are the two rivers that form watersheds, making the ambiance suitable for a day out. The forest is of evergreen type and hundreds of flowering plants are there. Most of the animals of the kingdom are here in this wildlife sanctuary.

Varkala beach
Visiting the beach, especially during the sunset is one of the best things you can do in Kerala. Mythically, it is believed that the water of this beach is quite holy as it washes away all the sins. Here, you can witness the small cliffs bordering the Arabian Sea. The main attraction in this beach is the list of adventurous things you can do here like paragliding, jetting, and so on.

Athirappilly waterfalls
Considered to be the largest waterfall in Kerala, this is located on the Chalakudy River, just at the entrance of the Sholayar ranges in the Western Ghats. Dense forest covers, with large numbers of fauna and flora, surround the entire area. It is in the Riparian forest that you find the four species of South Indian hornbills.

Bekal fort
Built during the reigns of Tipu Sultan, a distant view of the Bekal Fort will delineate its rising structure from within the sea. In fact, in reality, three-fourth of its exteriors are in close contact with the ocean. The entire structural detail gives out the defensive vibes, including the zig-zag entrance and the holes on the external wall.

Chembra peak
Located in the Wayanad hills, it is the highest peak of the range. Meppady is the only town in close vicinity with this ethereal wonder of nature from where you can reach the peak by foot. ‘Hridhayathadakam’ or the heart-shaped lake is said to be perennial, never drying out and so, it is one of the topmost attractions in this peak.

Chinnar wildlife sanctuary
Being one of the twelve protected sanctuaries in Kerala it has drawn quite a lot of attention towards itself. Kumarikkal Peak is one of the most important peaks in this forest. Over hundreds of different species of animals and birds are found here, including 101 species of spiders. About 963 species of flowering plants are here in this wildlife sanctuary. The vegetation of this forest is of wet grassland type and mountain rain forest type.

Kuruva Island
Kuruva island is considered to be the prime place amongst all the
best places to visit in Kerala owing to its natural beauty. Being an island in the Kabini river, it is the only place surrounded by naturally purified water in the entire Indian subcontinent. The flora and the fauna surrounding the group of islands are rare, and hence it is considered to be the home to some endemic species.
