JSW MG Motor India is ramping up its product offensive with a bold announcement: six new vehicles are set to launch in the Indian market in 2026. The confirmation comes directly from Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India Pvt Ltd, signaling an aggressive push into the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) segment.

Among these six launches, the most significant is MG Motor's first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) for India — a move that could reshape the country's approach to electric mobility. The lineup is also expected to include the recently unveiled Majestor SUV, which debuted in Faridabad.

The Plug-In Hybrid SUV: Codenamed 520

The upcoming PHEV, internally codenamed "520," is set to sit on an all-new multi-energy platform and will be positioned at what MG calls a "unique price point." This SUV is expected to rival established players like the Mahindra XEV 9S and XUV7XO.

There is strong indication that this PHEV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 SUV, which is sold as the Xingguang in China and as the Wuling Eksion in Indonesia. The vehicle blends SUV design with MPV practicality and is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.

The Wuling Starlight 560 measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,755 mm in height, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase — dimensions that the India-spec version is likely to retain.

  • 1.5L petrol engine for extended range and highway driving
  • A pure electric version is also available globally with a 56.7 kWh battery delivering up to 500 km range
