Recoveries outnumber new Covid cases in Karnataka

With 8,580 Covid-hit patients discharged in a single day, recoveries outnumbered 7,542 new cases in Karnataka on Thursday.

“Recoveries shot up to 6,28,588 across the state so far, with 8,580 discharged in the last 24 hours across the state,” said the state health bulletin on Friday.

With 7,542 new cases, the state’s Covid tally rose to 7,51,390, including 1,12,427 active cases, while 73 succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 10,356 till date.

Meanwhile, positive cases in Bengaluru crossed the 3-lakh mark (3,00,634), with 3,441 fresh cases over the last 24 hours and 65,664 active cases.

With 3,021 patients discharged in the last 24 hours across the city, 2,31,483 have recovered since the pandemic broke on March 8 in the state, while 24 died of the virus, taking the toll to 3,486 in the city.

Of the 946 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 359 are in Bengaluru hospitals, 80 in Dharwad, 75 in Ballari, 51 in Hassan, 43 in Chamarajanagar and 34 in Kalaburagi.

Of the 1,05,891 tests conducted, 27,961 were through the rapid antigen detection and 77,930 through RT-PCR.
