Free AI Writing Assistant

The AI writing assistant is free, with no subscription and no registration. Each visitor can make up to 60 requests a day. Generate, rewrite and improve your writing with Claude, Anthropic's AI model.

Pick a writing mode, a tone (Professional, Casual, Academic, Friendly or Persuasive) and a content type (General, Blog Post, Email, Essay, Social Media, Product or Story), then enter a topic or paste your text and press Generate. The result appears next to your original with its word, sentence and character counts and a readability score, and you can copy or download it.

Claude writes each result. Read it before you use it, and keep only what fits.

How to give the assistant a clear brief

An AI writing assistant only knows what you type and the settings you pick. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, suggests treating the model like a bright new colleague who has none of your background.

Its guide offers a quick test. Would a colleague with little context understand your request? If they would need to ask questions, add the answers before you press Generate.

So put the details it can't guess into the text box:

  • Who will read it, such as customers, a hiring manager or first-year students.
  • What the piece must do: remind, apologize, persuade or explain.
  • The facts it must include, like names, dates, prices and product features.

The assistant is told to keep your facts and not to invent statistics, quotes or claims. That only helps if you give it the facts.

Compare “follow-up email” with “Follow-up email to Priya after Tuesday’s demo: thank her, mention the price list, ask for a call next week.” The second gives the assistant something real to work with.

Generate aims for 200 to 400 words, Expand makes your text much longer, and Summarize keeps it brief. If a draft runs long, run Summarize on it.

Where it fits in your writing process

An AI writing tool can help at most stages, but it works best on material you supply. The University of North Carolina’s Writing Center says these tools can spark ideas and save time, as long as you bring your own judgment.

  • Planning: use Generate on a rough idea to see one way the piece could be shaped. Treat it as a model to react to, not your final plan.
  • Reading: Summarize gives you the main points of a long text. Then read the original, because a summary can leave out details that matter.
  • Drafting: write a rough draft yourself, then use Expand on sections that feel thin.
  • Revising: Rewrite, Simplify and Change Tone rework a passage you already have.
  • Translating: Translate takes up to 5,000 characters at a time and offers 38 languages. It keeps the tone of your original, so the Tone setting doesn’t apply.
  • Editing: for spelling and grammar, use our grammar checker, described below.

Have a fluent speaker check any translation that matters. UNC’s Writing Center notes that AI can struggle with idioms, context and the right level of formality.

Check facts, names and numbers yourself

Language models can state wrong things in fluent, confident prose. Anthropic’s own documentation says even advanced models like Claude sometimes produce text that is factually incorrect.

Our assistant is instructed not to invent statistics, quotes or claims. That lowers the risk but doesn’t remove it. Anthropic advises checking critical information yourself.

Before you use a result, check three things:

  1. Names, dates, prices and figures. Compare each one with your notes or the original source.
  2. Quotes and citations. Make sure the source exists and says what the text claims. UNC’s Writing Center warns that AI tools can invent both.
  3. Meaning. Rewording can quietly change what you meant. The page shows your original and the new version together, so read them against each other.

Make the result sound like you

Text polished by an AI writing assistant can lose the voice that makes it yours. UNC’s Writing Center suggests comparing the two versions and asking whether the edit removed your voice.

  • Start from your own words. Rewrite keeps your meaning and key points, and Change Tone keeps your core message. Generate starts from only a topic.
  • Choose the tone closest to how you would say it out loud.
  • Accept only the changes you agree with. A suggestion is not an instruction.
  • Put back your own examples, opinions and favorite phrases.

Using AI help for school or published work

Rules on AI use differ between courses, schools and publishers. UNC’s Writing Center tells students to read each syllabus and ask the instructor when unsure. You stay responsible for whatever you hand in.

The stakes can be real. At the University of Wisconsin–Madison, using generative AI beyond what your instructor allows breaks coursework rules and falls under the misconduct policy.

Where AI use is allowed, be open about it. UW–Madison’s library guide suggests describing how you used the tool. It also passes on APA Style’s advice to keep a record of your prompts.

This page saves your last 10 requests and results in your browser, but not the tone or content type you chose. For a full record, note your settings and download each result as a text file.

Privacy, limits and when to use another tool

When you press Generate, your text and settings go to savedelete.com’s server. The server sends them to Anthropic’s Claude API to write the result. So don’t paste anything you wouldn’t want shared.

Limits are counted per IP address. People who share one connection, such as an office or campus network, may share one allowance.

All our free AI tools also share one daily budget. If it runs out, they pause until 00:00 UTC. A “busy” message means the tools are handling as many requests as they can, so try again in a minute.

Use the grammar checker when you want to fix mistakes but keep your own sentences. It lists each issue with an explanation, so you choose what to change.

Use the plagiarism checker before you publish or submit. It searches the web for passages that match your text word for word or nearly so. It does not judge whether a person or an AI wrote the text.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI writing assistant really free?

Yes. It's free, with no registration, payment or paywall. To keep it free for everyone, each visitor can make up to 20 requests an hour and 60 a day, with up to 8,000 characters of text per request.

What writing modes are available?

We offer multiple writing modes: Generate (create new content from scratch), Rewrite (rephrase existing text), Expand (elaborate and add details), Summarize (condense text to key points), Simplify (make complex text easier to understand), Tone adjustment (change writing style), and Translate (convert to different languages).

Can I use this for academic or commercial purposes?

Yes for blog posts, emails, product descriptions, social posts and other commercial writing. For school or university work, check your course's rules on AI first: many limit it or ask you to say how you used it. Review and edit the result before you use it.

How do I choose the right tone for my writing?

Select the tone based on your audience and purpose: Professional for business communications, Casual for friendly blogs and social media, Academic for research papers and formal essays, Friendly for personal messages, and Persuasive for marketing and sales content. The AI will adjust the language, vocabulary, and style accordingly.

Is my content saved or stored on your servers?

Your writing history is stored locally in your browser using localStorage for your convenience. SaveDelete doesn't store your text on its servers: it is sent to Anthropic's Claude API only to write the response. You have full control over your local history.
