Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launched With 200MP Leica Camera, AirTag Clone and More at MWC 2026

Xiaomi has come a long way from being the scrappy Chinese budget phone maker. At Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, the company launched a veritable gadget avalanche — led by the camera-focused Xiaomi 17 Ultra, complete with Leica co-branding and a price tag that firmly plants it in flagship territory.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra: A 200MP Telephoto Monster
The star of the show is the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which packs a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with a variable focal length of 75mm-100mm equivalent — meaning you get 3.2x to 4.3x optical zoom. That is paired with a 50MP main sensor featuring a 1-inch sensor and f/1.67 aperture, plus a 50MP ultrawide with f/2.2 aperture.
Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor (the same chip in Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series), paired with a 6,000 mAh battery that charges at 90W wired and 50W wirelessly via Xiaomi’s HyperCharge tech. The Chinese version gets an even bigger 6,800 mAh battery.
The 6.9-inch HyperRGB OLED display is protected by Xiaomi’s own Shield Glass 3.0, rounding out what is clearly a no-compromise spec sheet.
The €1,999 Leica 100th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate 100 years of Leica, Xiaomi is also releasing a special Leica edition with a nickel-anodized aluminum body, a physical rotating zoom ring that mimics a real camera, and software features like “Leica Essential mode” with filters recreating the look of the classic Leica M9 and M3 cameras. It comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, priced at €1,999.
Xiaomi is also selling two photography accessory kits: a €99.99 Bluetooth snap-on with a two-stage shutter button, and a €199.99 Pro kit with a leather finish, USB-C connection, zoom control, and a built-in 2,000 mAh battery.
An AirTag Clone for €14.90
Perhaps the most interesting announcement is the Xiaomi Tag — a tiny 10-gram tracker that works with both Apple Find My and Google Android Find Hub. Priced at just €14.90 for one (or €49.99 for a four-pack), it undercuts Apple’s AirTag while offering cross-platform compatibility. The button cell battery lasts over a year.
A Powerbank Thinner Than Most Phones
Xiaomi also revealed an ultra-slim powerbank that is just 6mm thin and weighs 98 grams. Despite its slim profile, it packs a 5,000 mAh battery, charges devices at 22.5W wired or 15W wirelessly, and is magnetic for MagSafe-style wireless charging on iPhones. It is priced at €59.99 (€64.99 for the orange version).
Plus: Watch 5, Scooter, and Earbuds
Rounding out the lineup: the Xiaomi Watch 5 (€299.99) with a 1.54-inch AMOLED display, 6-day battery life, and 60-second health reports; the Electric Scooter 6 Ultra (starting at €329.99) with 1200W peak power and 75km range; and the Redmi Buds 8 Pro (€69.90) with active noise cancellation and 33-hour battery life.
The Bottom Line
Xiaomi’s MWC 2026 lineup is ambitious and sprawling. The 17 Ultra from €1,499 (and the base Xiaomi 17 from €999) marks the company’s continued push from budget disruptor to premium contender. Whether the Leica partnership justifies the nearly €2,000 price tag on the anniversary edition remains to be seen — but with a 200MP telephoto and cross-platform AirTag clone, Xiaomi is clearly no longer content playing in just the value segment. All devices are available in the EU and UK.
