Google Lens has gained the ability to recognize and diagnose various skin conditions, including rashes

Google Lens, one of Google's promising augmented reality (AR) services, now has the ability to identify different skin conditions. Additionally, Google has announced new generative artificial intelligence (AI) features across its Search and Shopping platforms.

With Google Lens, users can search for visually similar skin conditions by capturing images of affected areas. The results will be displayed in a carousel above the "Visual matches" section. However, Google emphasizes that these search results are for informational purposes only and should not be considered a medical diagnosis. Users are advised to consult medical professionals for advice. Google Lens can also recognize other issues like lip bumps, nail lines, and hair loss, as it aims to address the challenge of describing skin problems accurately through words alone.

In terms of Google Maps, new features include Glanceable Directions, which provide live updates on trip progress without the need to start navigation. These updates, including estimated time of arrival (ETA), reroutes, and turn-by-turn directions, can appear on the directions/route overview screen, lockscreen notifications on Android, and Live Activities on iPhone. Immersive View, initially announced at Google I/O 2022, allows users to virtually explore locations from different perspectives, such as various times of day and weather conditions. It is expanding to cities like Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence, and Venice, as well as over 500 iconic landmarks worldwide.

In Google Search, the Search Generative Experience (SGE) now offers AI-powered snapshots when users ask detailed questions about places or destinations, providing information from the web, user reviews, photos, and Business Profile details.

Regarding Shopping, Google Search introduces a virtual try-on tool that uses generative AI to predict how clothes will fit and appear on diverse models. Users can experience this tool with just one clothing image, starting with women's tops from brands like Anthropologie, Everlane, H&M, and Loft. The feature includes a "Try On" badge and allows users to select models that resonate with them. Support for men's tops will be added later this year. Additionally, Search enables users to refine clothing searches by color, style, and pattern using machine learning and visual matching algorithms across different retailers and stores.
