Your steps,
counted honestly.
TrueSteps is a free, private, on-device pedometer for iPhone. It counts every step in real time — with no account, no GPS, and no tracking.
Everything a step counter should be.
Real-time live counting
Watch your steps climb the moment you take them — no pull-to-refresh, no waiting. TrueSteps reads Apple's motion coprocessor continuously, so the number on screen is always the real one.
A daily ring & trends
A beautiful Aura ring for today, plus Week, Month, and Year views to see how you're moving over time.
Edit & backdate any day
Left your phone on the desk? Tap any day in Trends and correct the count so your history stays true.
Streaks with a free rest day
Build a streak without the guilt — everyone gets one free rest day, so a single quiet day won't break the chain.
Home & Lock Screen widgets
Keep today's ring and step count a glance away — pin TrueSteps widgets to your Home and Lock Screen.
Truly private
CoreMotion only — no GPS, no account, no servers. Your step history lives on your iPhone, and we never see it.
Why it's free.
TrueSteps is free with no subscription and no in-app purchases. Instead of charging you, it's quietly supported by polite, non-personalized ads — the kind that never get in your way. There are no ads on the main step view; they only appear on secondary screens like your history, awards, and settings, and they never cover your steps.
- No subscription, ever — and no in-app purchases.
- Non-personalized ads only — no tracking, no IDFA.
- Never on your main screen — your steps are always front and center.
Questions, answered.
Does it use GPS or need an account?
No. TrueSteps counts entirely on-device using Apple's CoreMotion (the motion coprocessor). There's no account to create and no GPS — your location is never read or needed to count steps.
How does the free app make money?
Through polite, non-personalized ads via Google AdMob, shown only on secondary screens like your history, awards, and settings — never on your main step view. We don't track you across apps and never request the IDFA (App Tracking Transparency) permission.
Can I fix a day the phone wasn't on me?
Yes. Tap any day in Trends to edit or backdate its step count, so your history stays accurate even on the days you left your iPhone behind.
Which iPhones are supported?
TrueSteps runs on iOS 18 and later. It uses your iPhone's motion coprocessor to count steps, distance, and floors efficiently in the background.
Is my step data private?
Completely. Your step history is stored on your device. We have no servers that receive it and we never see it — there's nothing for us to upload, sell, or lose.
