Hello Guys! Welcome to my second blog post which is a combination of my working environment and my pretty gadgets that i have. As i have told my readers that i am a web designer by profession. I would like to share what gadgets i use to make myself comfortable and geeky at the same time.
I started everything on a PC and hence windows is always close to me as it had taught me a lot. I still remember 9 years back when i got my first PC. Right now i am using a MAC on which i design and code websites on regular basis.
Here is my small setup for both desktops. iMac with 24” inch screen is really awesome in its functionality and compactness. No CPU’s and minimal wires, which has kept me liking it more than windows PC’s.
The hardware configuration
For iMac is : 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, 640GB HD, Nvdia Graphics, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, L2 Cache-6MB. PC on the other hand has: 2GB DDR1 Ram, 80GB, Intel Dual Core.  Now for the softwares that i use to create websites and other design related work are mostly adobe master collection. Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks. Both the desktops has all software installed and always ready to use.
Why does one need two operating systems for making websites?
Some of you might be thinking that why two operating systems. I think two operating system are must as the major part of internet surfers rely on Internet Explorer with Windows as operating system and other part is using Safari/Firefox in MAC. Do make a website with considering all browsers and operating systems you need to check it. So its a necessary requirement for a web developer to have both Operating Systems.
Apart from these desktops i also have a small netbook device, Asus 1000H Eee PC on which i have installed Linux Operating system (Ubuntu Netbook Remix), which is really the best while traveling and mobility at times.
Netbook has really been a companion in outdoors, as it gives at least 5 hours battery backup and has almost all functions that i need while on the move.
I have a broadband from BSNL + EVDO Card from BSNL + Reliance Data Card (inactive). Both Desktops are having there own net connection. iMAC is been setup with a wireless router/modem provided by BSNL. Netbook is also connected via wirelesss connectivity. When on the move i take BSNL EVDO card with Netbook for handy usage. Reliance Data Card is been inactive due to lesser speed and its not a unlimited plan.
Internet rate is approx: Rs1350 (Broadband) + Rs 600 (EVDO) per month which adds upto 2000 bucks ($40 approx)
So that’s it … one good news is that i am buying a MacBook very soon… and i will give the iMAC to parents as they will love it. Tell us what do you like to have a PC or a Mac if given a choice and why …
