We all love Google and its very famous web mail service, Gmail. I think that Gmail is the best email client as compared to others. Even I had tried lots of other services too but I always came back to Gmail. And after Google enabled the sidebar gadget service in last October, I proudly become the loyal user of Gmail. The best part is these gadgets really worked well on my Gmail sidebar and they don’t even clutter the interface.
Everyday lots of applications are made by Google and third-parties to add tons of functionality to Gmail and to make it a one platform for all.
In this article, I’ll be covering different types of gadget you can use in your Gmail account including Social Networking Gadgets for Gmail.
Step By Step Guide to Integrate Gadgets in your Gmail Sidebar
Activate the Custom Gadgets in Labs
To start using this amazing feature, you have to first enable the service. To do that, go to Settings –> Labs and enable “Add any gadget by URL” which you will find in the bottom of Gmail window and click “save changes”.
How to add Gadgets
Click on Gadgets tab, and enter the gadgets URL into “Add a gadget by its URL” and click “Add” button.

Thanks you, Yogesh. This is precisely what I was looking for! Can’t wait for my Twitterfeed to show up in Gmail. Have you ever tried out http://www.rapportive.com by the way? It automatically shows a picture, Twitter and LinkedIn profile of the person you’re currently mailing with. It’s really nice. Worth checking out!

GMail has loads of great features stuffed into it.
I’ve got all my email accounts running through my GMail account, so I can read them all in one place. Even accounts with different providers.

I just prefer the http://www.twittergadget.com/gadget.xml lauout over the https://twittergadget.appspot.com/gadget-gmail.xml layout. Looks like that is what you used above initially.
February 17, 2010 at 11:02 pm
Nope I am still using the same which I told in the post and it works fine for me. Just restart your browser and then try, might be it work for you.

Odd-
the pic you posted above is for this gadget which I like but opens in a separate window:

The gadget you gave me:
https://twittergadget.appspot.com/gadget-gmail.xml
is different but still very good.
