Neil Nitin Mukesh is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi language movies. He is the son of singer Nitin Mukesh and grandson of Mukesh, a well-known Indian playback singer. Neil, who is born in the family of singers deviated and went for an acting career. He made his debut through the movie ‘Johnny Gaddar’ in the year 2007. For the film, he was granted nomination in Filmfare Award for ‘Best Male Debut’. Till date, Neil Nitin Mukesh has worked on more than 25 movies. The best of his films include New York, Lafange Parinde, 7 Khoon Maaf, Prem Ratan Dan Payo, Golmal Again and Saaho.

Early life and Education: Neil Nitin did his schooling from Green Lawns High School, Mumbai. His father insisted on completing graduation, so he went to HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai to complete his graduation. After completing his graduation in a bachelor’s degree in commerce, he decided to pursue acting as a career. In an interview, Neil stated that singing was never his hobby, and acting is his passion. His grandfather too was passionate about acting, so he decided to pursue his grandfather’s passion and live his dream. He joined a four-month acting course at Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute and was trained by actor Anupam Kher.
Career – As a child actor Neil appeared in the movie ‘Vijay’ in 1988 in which he played the role of a younger version of Rishi Kapoor. He also acted in the movie ‘Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni’ in 1989 as younger version of Govinda.
After completing his acting training, Neil made his debut in Bollywood movies from Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Johnny Gaddaar’ in 2007. He received positive reviews from the critics for his role as a crook in the film and earned best male debut nomination at Filmfare Awards. He was described as complete natural by Taran Adarsh on Bollywood Hungama. However, despite his superb performance in ‘Johnny Gadar’ the movie failed at the box office. His movie Aa Dekhe Zara opposite Bipasha Basu did an average collection in the box office. His first commercial success was the movie ‘New York’ released in 2009 for which he was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. The movie also showed John Abraham and Katrina Kaif and was based on terrorism. The same year he was seen in the film ‘Jail’ that revolved around the prisoner’s cruelty in the Indian jail. The nude and masturbation scene in the movie sparked controversy, and the scene was shortened. After that Neil appeared in movies ‘Lafangey Parindey’ and ‘Tera Kya Hoga Johnny’ in 2010, however, both the movies dropped from the box office. In the year 2014 Neil made his debut in Tamil cinema with film Kaththi in the Year 2014. In 2015 he appeared in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo alongside Sonam Kapoor and Salman Khan. He appeared in a negative character in the movie ‘Golmaal Again’ released in 2017, which did quite well. In 2019, he was seen in the biggest film of Indian history ‘Saho’. However, the movie couldn’t do well at the box office.

Love, Affairs and marriage – In the past, Neil hinted being in relationship with Deepika Padukone and Asin. However, both the actress have maintained silence on it. In an interview, Neil accepted being in love with Sonal Chauhan. However, Sonal, in her interview, denied being in a relationship with him.
Neil opted to arrange marriage and married at his parents wish. His wife Rukmani Shah professionally belongs aviation industry. Both their families have known each other for long. Initially, Rukmani was concerned about Neil’s actor status, but she felt more at ease when both met. Eventually, the couple got along well and were engaged on 11th October 2016. The couple got married on 9th February 2018 in an intimate ceremony according to Hindu rituals. On September 20, 2018 the couple welcomed their daughter Nurvi Neil Mukesh.
Controversies – Neil Nitin Mukesh had some verbal fight with Shahrukh Khan anchoring at Filmfare Award. While hosting the award show Shahrukh Khan made a few silly jokes about Neil Nitin Mukesh’s name. In the answer, Neil asked the superstars to ‘shut up’. Later on, Neil confirmed that it was all planned by Shah Rukh Khan and the organisers told him beforehand to be a part of this act.
