UI for Fitness App

User interface design is a unique challenge, taking into account the complex technological landscape of today. There are more tools and more data to work with than ever before. But while the possibilities and complexity of technology are expanding, the user demand for simplicity is also increasing. This can make a designer’s job difficult as they will have to traverse both the underlying back end logic of their app and the psychology of users who have no time to think about such things.

In this article, we’re going to go over some basic design principles and see how they can be applied to health and fitness apps specifically. Health and fitness is an especially interesting sector for implementing technology these days and the emergence of wearable items that collect biometric data allows users to automatically track their performance and progress toward their fitness goals.

We’re going to discuss three different kinds of health and fitness apps in this article. There are trainer apps to help users select a predefined workout routine. Then there are logging apps that allow users to design and save their own routines, and to track their adherence to these routines over time. Finally, there is a new breed of fitness apps that track users’ workout via sensors. Let’s take a closer look at each type.

Personal trainer app

In general, you want the UI to be as simple as possible, so even (and especially) if your product is full of features, you’ll need to find a way to present them to users in a way that they can understand at a glance. The simplest solution for users is sometimes a difficult problem for developers. Nevertheless, if you want to increase your user base, you’ll have to present your workout app in a way that everyone can understand.

Here’s an example. A great user interface idea for a trainer app might be to have an illustration or model of the human body where users can point to identify the muscles they’d like to work out in their routine. This streamlines the process significantly for visually-oriented users and reduces the time that it would take to select target areas from a text list of muscles. The underlying logic can remain as complex as necessary; often a simple system requires a huge array of moving parts to make it so, but the presentation should embody elegance to the utmost.

Fitness tracker App

Logbooks and fitness tracker apps differ only slightly from the trainer apps we’ve just discussed. In this kind of activity tracker, users will select their own routine from a list of exercises and keep track of their workouts on their own.

Again, simplicity is crucial in user interface design. There’s a lot of information to keep track of in apps like these, and you’ll need to make it accessible to as many users as possible. You’ll want to keep track of training intervals, available exercises, sets of so many reps, and routines that incorporate all of these elements.

Another important design principle: you only want your users to be worried about one feature at a time. There is a lot of data to keep track of in an app like this, especially from an end-user standpoint, and all of it will be managed manually by them. Don’t flood your home screen with a tiny monthly calendar, a list of exercises, and saved routines all at the same time. Try to break it down into several swipeable screens, and let the pointer take them to further details from there.

Because there’s so much data to keep track of, you might be tempted again to list it in sort of a tree structure or array; in other words, you might be prone to present your data in the way that a developer would find it simplest to understand. This is to be avoided. Most of your users will want to see their workout data in the same way they think about it while at the gym.

In fact, it might be helpful to think about your user interface design as a physical space to be traversed by walking. Consider your home screen a foyer that leads to other rooms in your app. Swiping to your left leads to a room that allows you to design and save exercise routines; swiping to your right lets you into a room with a calendar of routines, and so on. You want to reduce the time spent on your feet as much as possible. Taking this perspective will allow you to design elegant user interfaces intuitively, the way your users will hope to see them.

Activity tracking apps

These apps are the new frontier in exercise and fitness programming. In these apps, you take your own routine to the gym, and sensors like a fitness bracelet will keep track of your biometrics, which can include the number of sets and reps completed in strength training. The challenge apps like these present to designers is the following: given all of the biometric data available from these devices, how should it be arranged and presented to users?

There is a lot of biometric data available from these new devices, and there are a lot of things that you can do with it. Consider automatically designing routines for your users based on their biometric data, or presenting them some other kind of health or nutrition advice. A further possibility is to allow your users to keep track on the routines that they developed in the previous app with features that keep them honest about their set and rep goals. These can be full-screen counters when activated to keep users fully focused on their workout rather than playing with their phones.

In Conclusion

There are so many possibilities when it comes to user interface design that it’s simply impossible to go through them all in one article alone. Presenting just the prevailing trends in health and fitness app design is a challenge in and of itself, but I hope that this article has given you at least a few ideas to work with going forward. Design is all about the creative use and presentation of information, so while I’ve given you a few ideas, feel free to expand on them, change them entirely, and by any means make them your own.

A dull waiting room, the long queues, an obvious argument with other patients regarding the long queues, the hopeful desperation to get inside to the doctor’s cabin, dull and gloomy faces of the other patients, painful cries, this was the scenario or the picture one could ever imagine a decade ago while paying a visit to the hospital or clinic.,

Even before that, herbs and prayers were the main therapy or treatment which has taken a whole 360-degree turn and introduced hospitals and clinics. It simply shows that technology is like the guiding faith behind the revolution and change. Similar is the story of the hospitals and other healthcare industries.

The scenario has been changed drastically and most of the credit should be given to a trustworthy and reliable mobile app development company . This is the reason, it seems mobile applications are revolutionizing the way we used to see healthcare earlier.

There are about a total of 3,18,000 health apps available on the top app stores worldwide. And according to HealthWorks Collective

  • There are around  97,000+ health and fitness application available for both tablets and mobile
  • 15% of mobile phone users between the age of  18 to 30 have installed both health and fitness apps
  • 52% of the smartphone users collect health-associated information on their cell phones

The graph will keep on increasing with the passage of time. Let’s figure out how mobile apps are changing the healthcare industry precisely.

Online appointments

Earlier, taking appointments requires waiting in the queue, spending hours, and now the situation has been changed fully. All thanks to mobile apps, it has replaced the need for physical availability for receiving calls and answering for scheduling and rescheduling the appointments according to the dates.

Due to mobile apps, it has become super easy than ever to register appointments with the help of customized apps. The communication can be easily done between patients and doctors along with taking appointments and getting a consultation.

These apps are not limited to appointments, they are also designed to offer home delivery services along with letting patients filter hospitals and clinics easily.

Decision-making

Excess of a good thing is a good thing, the same is the concept of technology. Technology is certainly making our life easier and simpler. Earlier, the only way to decide hospitals and clinics was by listening to the experiences of friends and family, advertisements, hoarding, radio ads, etc, but now the picture has changed.

With mobile apps, it is easy and faster to know about the best healthcare service provider hospitals along with checking out the reviews and ratings to decide which one is reliable and trustworthy.

Medical records

With the help of cloud-based CRM, it becomes easy for the users to upload their medical history and other related information in the app. Instead of carrying bulky files and other health-related documents, a patient can store all their data and information in it.

Because of cloud-based service, the information will remain secure and can be integrated across multiple devices. Meanwhile, if a patient is moving to another city or place, he/she is not required to start the medical history from the beginning, a doctor can get the whole medical history record from the stored data.

Meanwhile, the stored information can also help medical students and researchers to analyze the cause, cure, symptoms, etc. In every way, mobile apps are actually helping patients, doctors, local people, researchers, students, etc.

Monitor

The mobile apps are designed in such a way in order to monitor the heart rate, blood pressure, sugar level, and other vital signs just by using mobile phones with the help of wave signal and other technicality.

If you are also planning to develop a health-based mobile application, make sure to be aware of the cost of developing an application along with other aspects.

Transparent

Earlier people were meant to pay off the exact amount demanded by the chemist or healthcare provider,  but now with the advent of technology and well-designed mobile apps, it is easier to compare the prices and facilities of different healthcare centers online.

Moreover, with the help of mobile apps, it is also easier to know the authenticity of the service by reading the testimonials and reviews of the previous clients. In short, things and information are becoming transparent.

Wrong diagnosis

Earlier there were numerous cases of wrong diagnosis taking place every day, which has been efficiently eliminated by the mobile apps.

With the help of mobile apps and the stored medical report in it, the doctors get accurate reports of the patient’s health condition. And these accurate health reports help them to prescribe the patients’ accurate medicine with the correct doses of the same.

Easy payments
With the introduction of mobile apps, it is easy to pay mobile expenses through different payment options without standing in the queue. Moreover, the app is facilitated with a secured payment gateway allowing users to pay the bill promptly.

We are living in the mobile world and every aspect of our lives are guided by smarter apps. The above-written points are a few of the advantages of mobile apps in the healthcare industry among many.

Hence, to conclude, the mobile apps in the healthcare industry are helping patients to schedule appointments, monitoring the side effects, reminding them of taking pills and many more. And will keep on offering better services with the passage of time.

Online Gaming

Remember when gamers were a very small part of the population? Those days are long gone and new layers of gamers are constantly added thanks to the mobile revolution. From hardcore to casual, everyone enjoys a good game with some thought behind it. To help you find your next favorite gaming app, we’ve selected 3 leading examples, each one from a different category.

The social gaming category: 88 Fortunes

The social gaming category is a huge app store hit, with millions of players around the world turning their smartphone into a pocket casino they take with them and play whenever, wherever. There are plenty of free slots apps to choose from, but discovering a mobile casino app that takes things further is still an exciting experience, and that’s exactly what 88 Fortunes does. This social gaming app has the most beautiful design we’ve ever seen in this category, and it features many branded casino machines that give players an exhilarating experience and heaps of rewards.

The mobile simulator category: Farming Simulator

If you’re a fan of the Sim series, you probably know and love the many games it offers players, most of them focusing on farm-related tasks. In this game, you’ll be able to collect different machines and operate them in what feels like a very grown-up and sophisticated version of the all-time gaming favorite Farmville. You’ll take care of your machines, crops and livestock on a daily basis and enjoy the feeling of getting your hands dirty when in reality, you’ll be tapping happily on your screen.

 The mobile puzzle category: Machinarium

Similarly to the mobile casino app 88 Fortunes, we’ve selected this app store beauty for its unique design, something the app’s publisher, Amanita Design, is known for. The company’s puzzle games are pretty simple and easy to comprehend, but that does not mean they are easy to solve and you will be needing a few clues along the way. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? The game’s narrative invites you to work with the main character, a robot named Joseph, who sets out on a quest to save his girlfriend Berta after she was kidnapped by the evil Black Cap Brotherhood Gang. While we loved the game, we would appreciate a more creative (not to mention feminist) plot.

There are many other mobile gaming categories and subcategories to follow, as the gamers community grows and matures. We enjoy watching the process and the products it creates, and feel confident that the mobile gaming scene will continue to evolve and entertain us in the upcoming years. Now, enough typing, because we want to play!

Apps

Back in 2008 when Apple introduced the App Store, people could not get enough of the content. However, despite the seemingly limitless number of online apps available for download across the various digital distribution platforms, enthusiasm has waned appreciably. The average American smartphone user does not regularly download new apps, and app developers have taken note. Reports point to users narrowing down their usage to a maximum of 10 apps on a consistent basis. The primary demographic that continues to seek out cutting-edge apps are the millennials who are even willing to pay for apps that appeal to them. This shift has forced developers to reconsider their business model.

Selling a somewhat addictive app is no longer a guaranteed path to success. Many companies are struggling to get people to download their content. Users are no longer browsing the marketplace for downloads unless they have a specific need, such as a banking or dining app. When they do manage to try a new app, reports show that one in four people will delete the app after its first use.

With the trend toward providers automatically installing popular apps like Facebook or YouTube onto smartphones, there are fewer occasions to open up the App Store at all. The open marketplace is always challenging, but this latest wrinkle in app activity and distribution adds to the struggle to deliver and stay competitive. Understanding what drives the diminishing interest levels for the majority of users is essential. There are plenty of reasons people lose interest in apps other than mere boredom or indifference.

Scrolling through any social media feed, you will inevitably encounter any number of corny ads for game apps. Initially, all apps are free to download and then reveal microtransactions later on that permit the user to gain the full app’s experience. Indications for any pay-to-play component will typically discourage the majority of users which is the biggest hurdle for app developers. They have to find a balance between maintaining an appealing free experience for customers while simultaneously creating a value proposition to entice users to spend money on their app.

In the rush to push products out to the marketplace, executing this delicate balancing act is proving difficult for many developers. Social media has emboldened society to voice their opinions, so customers are not hesitant to leave brutally honest reviews if they feel an app is not up to par which can kill a new release right out of the gate. If users are going to invest time and money into an app, the door they are unlocking had better live up to the hype.

Developers should consider these factors and champion longevity in the market over a quick buck. Leveraging tools like online android emulators and similar environments offer low-cost options to adequately test products to ensure quality apps are being released. When competing for consumers in an age where user expectations for technology are high, companies cannot afford to lose precious market share over rash releases. Solid reputations are hard fought and easily lost in the industry, so the added effort to understand the customer and put apps to the test will result in long term gains.

If you’re an artist you know that you should protect your works from copyright infringement. Luckily, all you need is a proper watermark creator. Professional, yet affordable watermark photo app will help you get it done in a minute. But how to choose such a program? Let’s find out.

Features of a good watermark software

What characterizes top watermark creators? Search for an ability to:

  •     easily add a text to photo or elements such as icons and logo,
  •     create and save templates,
  •     batch watermark multiple images at once,
  •     secure a watermark against automated watermark removal,
  •     create a watermark (completely your custom made),
  •     add effects and manipulate the opacity of a watermark.

There are lots of programs which offer you a variety of features. Read on to find out more about 5 best watermark softwares below:

Visual Watermark

This app allows you to make a watermark or use built-in watermarks. It has over 260 fonts and 60 icons, effects such shadows, background, different colors, and options to resize and rotate a watermark, or to change the size of an image and crop or rename it. Visual Watermark protects also your watermark against automated watermark removal. It is intuitive, easy and offline, owing to which it is safer and faster than most of the online tools requiring good Internet connection. You can download it from www.visualwatermark.com with 30-days money refund trial.

PicMarkr

It is a very basic free, online tool, quite intuitive, suitable for just a simple watermark. You can watermark images submitted from Facebook or Flickr, and upload it back there or save on your laptop. There are three options to choose from: tile (text all over an image), text or logo. You can batch watermark up to five pictures. One shortcoming: you have to resize and adjust transparency of a watermark before you actually watermark a photo. Once you select your watermark you won’t be able to make these changes. It is however one of the easiest online tools which for basic purposes will be just fine.

Watermark.ws

It is an online tool which allows you to watermark photos, videos and documents. It also lets you to amend colors, font type, transparency, size of a watermark, add the copyright symbol, and place it on the file manually (or as tile). You can submit the materials from your drive or a cloud. Free version allows you to watermark one file at a time and the first 30 seconds of a video. The paid version has no limits regarding the number of files or duration of videos, and allows you to choose from multiple font types, use your own watermarks and create templates.

PhotoBulk

This program is dedicated to Mac. To download it you must pay $10, which is a small price, considering the quality of this software. You can add a watermark as a text or an image (or several), add a date stamp, batch watermark multiple files, change the size of an image, convert it, compress it and edit EXIF data. It also allows you to manipulate watermark options: scale it, rotate it, adjust its opacity and color and save your usual settings.

GIMP

You can always use a simple image editor, not a dedicated watermark creator. GIMP is one of the most popular and basic applications, simpler than Photoshop, but taking into consideration the fact that it is for free, GIMP looks quite promising. The app allows you to manipulate with pictures, add various effects and has options like resizing, renaming, cropping, mirroring and so on. You can also make a watermark, although quite basic one, using multiple available fonts, and if you have already a logo or a ready-made watermark, you can alter its size, position and opacity.

How to add watermark with text to photo

To add a watermark to a photo with the help of convenient app is easy and quick. You just need to upload a picture, choose your watermark and place it where you need it. Then change its size when required and adjust the opacity to elegantly fit the style of the photo.

Hundreds of plagiarism proofing tools for Android phones

Now, considering the fact that there are hundreds of tools that help authors, bloggers, and students with proofing their content for uniqueness, it is important to choose the best one. A question then begs, how do you do it? Well, you may want to draw a comparison among some of the best Apps and that’s okay.

But, for college rookies who are not well-versed with the best Apps, here are top features to look for in the best plagiarism tool for your android phone:

  • Security of an App is crucial. Ever heard of people losing vital information to third parties after installing an application in their phones? Well, that is not an exception when it comes to using plagiarism check software. Go for an application that won’t compromise your privacy.
  • Go for a tool that ropes in a huge database of information from all around the web. The catch here is that a good checker should have access to multiple sources such as websites and repositories (private and public) for it to qualify as efficient and effective.
  • Does your App support many file formats? If not, then you have every reason to discard it. A dependable and effective plagiarism tool for Android should support many different file formats such as .txt, .rtf, .htlm, .pdf, .doc, .docx, and others.
  • It is also advisable to download a tool that generates a comprehensive report. Whether it is displaying content similarity or other undesirable aspects of a write-up such as misspelled words, a good App uses different colors to highlight different cases. Thus, it becomes easier for a student to make corrections while learning at the same time.
  • The multiplicity of functions is another core feature to look for in plagiarism software. In this regard, you should ask questions such as does it have a citation and referencing feature? What about Deep Search Technology?
  • Moreover, before you download an App you would like to use for uniqueness test, find out if it is possible to download and share reports.
  • Free checks. Do not pay for an application that does not come with free checks. It is imperative that students test a product before they decide on whether to go for the paid version or not.  Most of the times, the above features play significance at this point.

personal training apps

Technology is now a large part of our lives. You just can’t escape it.

Your phone is probably the last thing you communicate with at night, and the first thing in the morning. Possibly even before your partner.

And with that use have come a huge number of life changing apps, from Facebook and Instagram to online personal trainers.

But can an app really be as effective as a personal trainer and will they get replaced by technology?

Here’s the thing…

As humans we need human contact. Put someone in solitary confinement and they will eventually go crazy.

Technology cannot mimic this innate need for other human contact. And the same is true for personal training.

No matter how many alerts and reminders you get from your phone, you are less likely to listen to it compared to a real person.

Put a trainer in front of you and you’re guaranteed to work harder and miss fewer sessions.

Money makes you accountable…

Apps can be bought for very little, which means they are seen as low value. A PT on the other hand is expensive.

Which one are you more likely to always stick to the schedule for? A PT session which costs a lot or a session in your app which costs almost nothing to miss.

The bottom line…

Using money to make you more accountable is a good thing. Paying for a service will make you more likely to stick to it in the long run. With an app you can easily put it off until tomorrow, or the day after…

The Tailored Approach

Apps can be fancy and show you a variety of cool moves to try out, but unfortunately they can never really tailor the moves specifically to you.

Sure, you might get a tailored program based on your fitness level or ability to do certain moves that you tell it about, but they can only go so far.

Compare that to in-person training where the coach can see exactly where your strengths and weaknesses are. They can tailor every exercise perfectly to your needs.

Poor Technique

Once you get to a certain age you start to think about quality over quantity when exercising. Your days of throwing massive weights around without injury are numbered.

Lifting weights and working out without proper technique will only lead to a higher risk of injury. Having a trainer look at your technique and ensure you are doing it properly will make a world of difference in the short and long term.

Motivation

No matter who you are, your motivation levels will always dwindle if training alone. A training buddy is a great start, but a knowledgeable training buddy is better.

That’s effectively what a personal trainer is. A buddy who is there to support you 100% of the way, helping you with technique, what workouts to do and get you pumped up when your motivation levels are low.

I’m sure you’ve experienced how different it feels when you are training alone and with a partner. Is it the same as when you’re training with an app in your hand?

The answer is no…

No matter how good the app and technology is, nothing can beat having someone standing there in front of you pushing you through those hard reps and sets to help you get the most out of your training session at the gym.

Best Value Personal Training

If you’re still a little put off by the price of a PT session, you can always look for semi-private training sessions or ways to partner up and have two people per trainer.

It’s a very cost-effective way of doing things and makes sure that you still get the attention you need. In fact, you will probably learn a thing or two about technique because you can watch your partner train and learn how to help them.

Their collection of audiobooks is one of the largest available, so there’s plenty of content to discover without getting bored. Once you buy and download audiobooks, they’ll be stored in your library forever, regardless of whether or not you keep your membership.

For only $11.48 a month, you’ll get two credits to use on any audiobooks of your choice. There’s also an annual membership plan that allows you to choose between 12 and 24 credits, which you’ll be given access to right away.

Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle’s success is unmatched, and it has earned the title of the market’s most popular reading app. The app is available on all devices, and it’s perfectly optimized for each. Purchasing and downloading is done directly through Amazon, and the books you buy will immediately be downloaded to the app.

Should you want it, there is an Amazon Kindle device available as well. This piece of tech offers 2GB of storage, which gives you room for well over 1,000 books. Some features of this device are the ability to customize the font size of books, realistic page-turning, annotation/highlighting, and syncing compatibility with Amazon cloud.

app

We’ve all heard that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. But, there some exceptions to this rule and the Dosh app is one of them. Dosh is a popular mobile app that allows you to earn cash back by shopping at your favorite stores, booking hotels, or eating at a local restaurant. Using this app you’re able to earn money for simply doing things you already do on a daily basis.

If you’re looking for a simple but effective way to earn some extra money, keep reading to learn about the pros and cons of the Dosh app. This way you can decide if the app is right for you!

Pros

1. Wide Variety of Supported Merchants

Variety is the spice of life, and there are no cut corners on the Dosh app. No matter where you live in the U.S. or where you like to shop, you’re likely to find some of your favorite retailers on Dosh. The app supports a wide range of merchants including:

  • Target
  • Edible Arrangements
  • Holiday Inn
  • Burger King
  • Microsoft
  • Nordstrom Rack
  • Sheraton

Using the Dosh app, you can continue to shop at these retailers but with the perk of being able to earn cash back. With this app, you pretty much get rewarded for shopping and eating out. While you won’t save tons of money, Dosh discounts are enough to add up over the weeks and months of consistent use.

2. Earn Money for Doing Things You Already Do

As you’ll read in many reviews of the Dosh app, one of the greatest things about using this app is that you don’t have to go out of your way to do anything special. Chances are you already go shopping on a weekly basis and maybe you treat your family to dinner out once a week. By using the Dosh app you simply keep doing what you’re already doing, but instead, you get rewarded for it.

Grocery shopping, clothes, and other items can be quite expensive. A meal out can also come with a hefty price tag. But, by activating an offer on the Dosh app, you’re able to effortlessly save money.

3. Quickly Cash Out Your Cash Back

Unlike other cashback apps, you don’t have to wait for a check to come in the mail. when cashing out your earned cash back, you can request that the money is sent to your PayPal account, or you can link your debit card with your Dosh account to have money sent directly to your account.

The cashout process is simple and easy, which means you’ll have quick access to your earned cash back.

4. Effortless

Other cash back apps require users to activate offers or to scan in their receipts before cashback can be earned. But, with Dosh, you don’t have to do anything out of the ordinary. After linking your debit and credit cards that you use to shop, you simply shop, eat, and stay where you want to. If you happen to purchase from a retailer that’s part of the Dosh network, you’ll automatically earn cash back.

Cons

1. Not All Retail Locations Participate

Even though Dosh supports a large variety of retailers, not all locations participate in the app’s cash back program. If you’re looking to earn cash back on a purchase, while eating out, or when traveling, be sure to check within the app to ensure that the retailer or company participates in the Dosh network.

2. Only Available in the U.S.

As of right now, the Dosh app is only supported in the U.S. This also means that any purchases made outside of the U.S. aren’t applicable for cash back through the app. This is important to note if you travel out of the country frequently.

3. You Have to Connect Your Bank Account

While this isn’t a con for everyone, many people are wary of providing their bank account information to a mobile app. But, the quickest way to get paid through Dosh is by linking your bank account so that your cash back earnings can be quickly deposited.

The good news is that you can use PayPal to receive your cash back earnings. Using PayPal is a more secure option and doesn’t require you to provide your banking information.

4. Can’t Link Cards Used on Similar Sites

One of the quirks of Dosh is that users can’t register the same card that’s used on similar sites and apps. For example, if you’re a registered user of Yelp’s Cash Back program, you won’t be able to use the card that you use for that app. Dosh specifically prohibits the use of cards that are linked to other cash back apps.

Conclusion

As with any cash back app, Dosh has its positives and negatives. While there are drawbacks to consider, the general consensus of this app is that it’s easier and more convenient to use than other apps. Using Dosh you can effortlessly earn money by shopping, eating out, traveling, and referring friends.

Commuting

Commuting to your workplace can be boring, especially if it takes a lot of time to get to your destination. Plus, if you live in New Jersey, going back and forth every day is quite exhausting and we often find ourselves wondering what to do in order to kill time.

Luckily, there are online app services such as App Store and Google Play that offer millions of free apps. We didn’t have enough time to go through all of them, but the apps presented below are definitely the ones that many commuters consider excellent for relaxing and passing the time while commuting.

Take a look at our list and feel free to add apps that help you while away the time!

Scrabble Apps

Scrabble is a popular game in which you can use individual letters to create longer words and beat your opponents — you probably already know about it. There are dozens of Scrabble apps on both Google Play and App Store; it is up to you to choose the one you like best.

Why did Scrabble make it to this list? The answer is simple — it is a great game to stimulate your brain when you are traveling to work since it will wake your sleeping brain cells up and prepare them for work.

Betfair Casino

If you are a type of person who likes playing casino games, you should check out Betfair NJ — one of the most popular options for the residents of New Jersey nowadays. You don’t even have to download the app for this casino as it is available via mobile browser.

Podcast & Radio Addict

Some commuters simply don’t like playing games or looking at their mobile screens while commuting, either due to motion sickness or because they like to observe the environment.

If you are like that too, consider using Podcast & Radio Addict — one of the most popular apps for those who prefer podcasts and enjoy listening to various radio stations. This app is also an ideal option for people who like driving to work and are unable to look at the screen while they sit behind the wheel.

Citymapper

Citymapper is not an app that will help you pass the time, but it is definitely a piece of software that helps sleepy commuters. If you are on the subway and you have trouble remembering where to get off, you can use Citymapper — an app that will notify you when to get off the train.

Grub

If you were old enough to play games in the era of Nokia 3310 (the unbreakable one), you probably remember a game called Snake that everyone loved. Grub is a simple game that features a snake-like character that needs to eat things in order to grow.

In other words, this is some hard-core nostalgia for your fingertips. However, this time avoid throwing your smartphone if you mess it up in the game, as it might not survive that.

Dragon Anywhere

Dragon Anywhere is an interesting writing app that converts your speech to text. It can come in handy if you are driving and have ideas that you want to put on paper right away, but are unable to stop and type them down. Note that your text will require additional editing once you complete your speech, but you will get the essence of it nevertheless.

ASAM

ASAM is an app similar to Dragon Anywhere except that you get to listen rather than speak. If you have emails that need to be checked, but you don’t have the time to read them off your screen, you can use ASAM — an app that will read your emails to you while you are driving. Needless to say, this app is very useful for drivers who don’t want to be distracted while sitting behind the wheel.

Duolingo

Duolingo is the most popular language-learning app in the world, and the reason for its popularity is that you get to decide how much you want to learn on a daily basis. Exercises take anywhere from three to thirty minutes, which makes this an ideal app for commuters looking to learn a second language. The app covers a wide variety of world languages and uses English as a default one.

Conclusion

Commuting can be rather boring, regardless of the means of transport you use to get to work. Luckily, our list contains something for everyone. Also, while creating this list, we decided to include apps that do not require you to actually look at the screen in order to have fun or be productive. Which one of the apps presented above do you think will help commuters the most?
