Ajay Devgan will be seen as the brave Maratha warrior Taanaji Malusare in the movie who fought the battle of Sinhagad against the Uday Bhan Rathod, the role played by Saif Ali Khan. Taanaji was the Maratha warrior under the army of Maratha Leader Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who wanted to the recapture the Kondhana Fort from the Mughals and the battle was fought under the charge of Taanaji Malusare.
Savitribai Malusare is the wife of Taanaji and the role is played by Ajay’s real life wife, Kajol. The role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Mahraja is played by Sharad Kelkar, while role of Emperor Aurangzeb is played by Luke Kenny. Taanaji Malusare role played by Ajay Devgan is the unsung warrior from 17th Century. He was known for his bravery and valour which inspired most of the soldiers even after he lost his life in the battle. The same valour and bravery can be seen in the movie. He was endowed with the body of steel, agile mind and courage of a lion and he is playing the original role as the closest aides and trusted lieutenant of Shivaji Maharaj and the battle is fought to recapture the Kondana Fort from the Mughal Army that is headed by Uday Bhan.
This brave heart warrior planned a surgical strike on the fort to get it back from the Mughals as the fort is the pride of the Marathas and it is under the control of Uday Bhan and Mughal Army. But in the movie Taanaji planned a strike on the fort with handful of Marathas soldiers. Mughals were known for having the muscle power, but Taanaji is shown to have sharp acumen. This helped Taanajij to recapture the fort and win the battle, but unfortunately the Lion of the battle lost his life in the process. So, at the climax of the movie Taanaji was killed and he left behind a void which was not ever filled in the history.
