Ways to Clear Clogged Pores

Our skin continuously sheds dead skin cells and new cells are regenerated. However, instead of being shed in the environment if dead skin cells get trapped in skin it results in clogged pores. Our skin has tiny pores that releases sweat and oil.  Nevertheless, when dead skin cells, impurities and excess sebum clog pores it result into whitehead, blackhead or acne.

Other factors that clog pores are toxin in air, oil from hands that is transferred on touching face and noncomedogenic makeup. Over-exfoliating or over cleaning may also contribute.

Not just clogged pores leads to acne development but also makes skin look dull.

Effective Ways To Get Rid Of Clogged Pores

  1. Avoid Heat – Hot water and sun heat irritates the skin and makes the pores appear big. Opt washing face and having a bath with lukewarm water. Use sunscreen and cover your face with scarf, wear a hat or use umbrella to avoid sun heat.
  2.  Wash your makeup before sleeping – Sleeping with makeup clog pores. This is why it is advised to remove your makeup before you sleep.  
  3. Clean your beauty tools – Dirt, oil and makeup accumulates on beauty tools such as blenders and brushes. Clean the beauty tools regularly or the build-up will lead to clogged pores and breakouts.
  4. Exfoliate Regularly– Exfoliate your skin regularly to lift dry skin and impurities.
  5. Steam pores – Steaming face opens the pores. Do not steam every day or it will dry the skin. Steam once in a week. For this, boil water in a bowl. Place your face over it and cover your head with towel. Let steam cover your face. After 15 minutes pat your face, dry with a clean towel and relax for a few seconds. After that, use a toner to clean skin and then apply moisturizer.
  6.  Sleeping on a silk pillowcase – Silk is good for your skin in comparison to cotton. This is why it is advised to use silk pillowcase.

Home Remedies To Unclog Pores

  1. Parsley – Parsley is a natural astringent. It pulls the toxins and impurities out.    
    Wash fresh parsley and steep it in boiling water. Cool down the concoction. Soak a washcloth into this water. Wring out excess of water and then place the washcloth on your face for about 15 minutes.  Repeat this every alternate day.

2. Lemon – Lemon contains citric acid that is a natural exfoliate. It not only removes oil but also removes dirt and dead skin cells. Cut lemon in two halves. Sprinkle sugar on one-half and rub gently on your skin for a few minutes. Leave it for five minutes and then wash it off with luke-warm water.

3. Baking Soda – Baking soda surprisingly unclog the pores. It acts as deep cleanser.  If you have congested skin, try baking soda as it neutralizes the skin pH level and prevents the growth of acne causing bacteria. To two tablespoons baking soda add sufficient water to make a smooth paste. Apply the paste to your skin. After 10 minutes, wash it off.

4. Argan oil – Being rich in vitamin E and fatty acid argan oil diminishes open and large pores and nourishes skin. Warm a few drops of argan oil in between your fingers and apply to your face. Massage for a few minutes and then leave it for half an hour. After half an hour, wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this every day before sleeping.

 5. Cucumber – Not only cucumber treats open pores, remove excess oil, clears acne, nourishes skin and improves the texture of skin. Blend a few slice of cucumber and mix a few drops of lemon juice in it. Mix well to make a face pack. Apply the pack on face and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse of with cool water. Use this pack 2-3 times in a week.

Along with home remedies for clogged pores, you also need to pay attention to your diet. Avoid fatty and spicy foods and drink lots of water.
