Most people will tell you that, once a relationship is over, you should never go back to the same person again. While this may be true in some case, break ups can also be a great way to discover and understand what went wrong, and work towards never making the same mistakes again. Of you and your partner broke up, but decided to give the relationship another chance, you need to make sure you start over on the right foot.
Apologize and take responsibility
The first thing you need to do is meet and talk about what went wrong. Chances are, both of you are responsible for things not working out. Maybe one of you was too attached, maybe the other one did not take the relationship seriously enough. Whatever the case is, you need to both acknowledge what you did wrong and apologize for it. If you want to start rebuilding trust, you need to ensure both of you understood what the root cause for the break up was.
Speak openly about your feelings
A healthy relationship is no place for pride and egos. If you are willing to make things work, you need to admit and speak about your feelings. A lot of people fear that, if they admit the love they have for the other person, they might be perceived as weak or they might be taken advantage of. But in reality, holding back on your feelings will only leave your partner insecure and wondering if the relationship is really worth investing in. Communication is key in a relationship, so find a way to talk to your partner and tell them how you feel, especially in the cases where something does not go well.
Spice up your bedroom life
It’s no secret that a healthy sex life is extremely important in a relationship. After a while, just like any other thing in life, sex can become a routine. This can lead to frustration and maybe even determine one of you to start looking somewhere else for pleasure. To make sure these things never happen, try to bring something new into the bedroom every once in a while. From sex toys, to roleplaying and even BDSM, there are plenty of things you can try, depending on how far are you and your partner willing to go. Keep in mind to discuss about it before, to make sure you are both on the same page.
Be honest with each other
Honesty is the best policy in all aspects of life, and your relationship should be no exception. If you are not honest about the things that bother you, or the mistakes that you have made, the relationship has little chance to survive. If something is not right, find a nice way to talk about it with your partner. Tell them you did not a prove of the way they treat you, but do it in a way that is not going to spark up an argument. At the same time, if you did something wrong, own up to it and be honest with them.
