5 Major Differences Between The Vitamix 5200 & Vitamix 5300

Now that we have covered the basics, let us dive into the details and differences between these two popular blenders-

1. Motor Horsepower & Wattage

The 5200 peaks at 2 horsepower and can pulverize almost any ingredients you will put in it. However, the 5300 peaks at 2.2 horsepower and can make slightly more consistent smoothies because of its sheer power.

The 2 horsepower motor will require 1380 watts to run, and the 2.2 horsepower motor will run at 1640 watts.

2. Noise Levels

Blenders are overall great tools, but one thing that even blender lovers hate is the terrible noise it makes. A lot of modern blenders have incredible sound dampening technology to reduce noise, but that is not the case with these two blenders.

Both the blenders are quite loud, but the 5300 is louder than the 5200. This is because the 5300 has a slightly more powerful motor than the 5200. The 5200 can be 88 decibels loud, whereas the 5300 can be 98 decibels.

3. Blade Sizes

Vitamix is known for its powerful blades, and these two are no exception. The blades of both models are created from aircraft-grade stainless steel. They are incredibly durable and become even more powerful when complemented by the motors.

Since they are made of stainless steel, you do not have to worry about repair or maintenance either.

The only difference is the size. The blades of the 5300 are slightly bigger. They are 4 inches in diameter while the blades of the 5200 are 3 inches in diameter.

The larger blade and the more powerful blade allow the 5300 to make more consistent textures and smoothies.

4. Cooldown Time

You do not have to worry about the blades overheating after frequent use. Both the models come with built-in cooling fans that prevent overheating and enhance the blender’s lifespans. But the 5200 comes with a thermal protection system to shorten its cooldown time. The newer 5300 does not have that.

5. Container Sizes

Both blenders come with large containers. They basically have the same capacity since both containers can hold 64oz. However, there are some differences between the pitcher’s size and designs.

The pitcher of the 5300 has a low profile design. It has the same capacity but can be stored in cramped spaces and kitchen cabinets. The 5200 has a small base and the container is 3 inches taller than the 5300 and can not be stored in cramped places.

6. Price Tags

Surprisingly, the Vitamix 5300 is cheaper than the Vitamix 5200. The former comes at a price tag of $350 whereas, the older model comes at $450.

A hundred dollar increase is a lot, despite the newer models having more advanced features. If you are on a tight budget, then you should definitely choose the Vitamix 5300.

7. The Pulse Function

The pulse function has become a common and favorite feature that comes with modern countertop blenders. When you press the pulse button, the blender turns on at full speeds and stops immediately when you release it. This gives a more consistent texture.

The Vitamix 5300 has a pulse function feature, and the 5200 does not. Instead of the pulse function, the 5200 has a “high” function which works a bit similar but cannot provide consistency like the pulse function.

8. Easy To Clean

Both blenders have self-cleaning features, but sometimes it is good to manually do it with some warm soapy water. The 5300 has a wider base, which makes it easier to reach and clean compared to the 5200.

Final Verdict

We have looked at all the features of these two powerful blenders and now is the time to nominate our favorite. Well, personally we believe the Vitamix 5300 is a better deal.

It comes with a slightly more powerful motor, larger blades, and a low-profile pitcher. You can fit it in most countertops, which you may not be able to do with the 5200 since the pitcher is 3 inches taller.

The 5300 weighs a bit more than the 5200 and is a bit louder. But if you consider the prices, then the 5300 is definitely a bang for your buck that will last for years to serve refreshing smoothies and juices.
