Tips in Search Engine Marketing for Tech Start-Ups in: How to get New Customers?


When you are starting a new Company from the ground up, you have so many new challenges, but also you have the opportunity to build a new Web Site with just the right structure in order to benefit 100% of Search Engine Marketing and generate new Customers for your Service.

What I would like to warn you is that there is no shortcut, no trick and no magic. It is only hard work that will take you to success in getting new customers with SEO for your new Company. Now, lets check essentials steps that you need to work on:

1) Keyword Research: First of all, you absolutely need to take your time and review witch Keyword or Phrase best represent your Startup, so that in the future, when people search in Google, Yahoo or Bing they can find your Product or Service.

There are a lot of tools to use that can help you, but a good one is Google Keyword Tool from Google Adwords. Also one thing that will help your keyword strategy is choosing the ones that have more search volume for getting more clients in the future.

For example, if you are working in “Car Insurance” for keywords to focus on will be: “car insurance quotes”, “car insurance coverage”, “auto insurance comparison”, etc.

2) Site Structure: Once you have defined the Keywords that will represent your Service, you need to work in your own Site, start by defining your URL with those Keywords, the Titles and the Text in your Web. And also the small details like assigning the keywords to your Image Description Tag. And don’t forget about the internal link strategy with a good anchor text.

Remember, you need to work hard on this (we have been working hard for the last 8 years in our startup), because every decision you make right now will last almost forever with your Startup. You will be able to change, but it will cost you a lot in your rankings at search engine results. 3) Relationships: Now that you have everything in house resolved, you need to go out there. Start by contacting your family and friends, listen to there feedback about your Service and improve it, you will learn things that you would not imagine. Your process should be as Eric Ries teach at The Lean Startup, listen to your customers and iterate from there.

Now, going back to SEO, you will have to contact Bloggers and Journalist in your niche. For example, in “Car Insurance”, we start by contacting every single person in present in the Web (Site, Blog, Magazine Online, etc.) and showing our Service, the benefits. Always try to give something back, like for example, a contest for there users where they can win a full free Car Insurance for 1 year.
