Things To Consider Before Moving To Michigan

Moving To Michigan

If youre planning to relocate to the state of Michigan in the near future, youll want to do your homework on several subjects beforehand.

Michigan is home to over 10 million people. There is so much to enjoy throughout the state, including beautiful nature sites, historic venues, entertainment events, casinos and so much more.

Here are some things to know and learn about before you relocate to Michigan.

Michigan Is A Leader In Sports BettingAnd They Love Their Sports

Sports betting in Michigan launched back in Jan. 2021, and it simply didnt take long for the state to emerge as a national leader in the gambling industry.

Michigan Online gambling is the right choice when moving to the state as it will benefit you in every way from saving to winning. The available sportsbooks in Michigan are also offering special promos to new customers upon signing up.

This includes an offer from FanDuel in which you can get $2,000 to Play it again within 24 hours, a 100 percent deposit match of up to $1,000 from WynnBett, and a 100 percent deposit match of up to $2,000 from DraftKings.

There are several in-person sportsbooks, including the FanDuel sportsbook at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit and the Caesars Sportsbook at Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg.

Aside from sports gambling, these sportsbooks allow customers to play their favorite casino games online such as poker, blackjack, roulette, slots (thousands of different games), and much more.

Michigan is one of Americas most passionate and event-filled sporting events, too. You simply dont have to be a huge sports fan to enjoy a game or two here in the Great Lake State.

Detroit has a team in each of the big four North American professional sports leagues in the NFLs Lions, MLBs Tigers, NBAs Pistons, and NHLs Red Wings.

The Pistons and Red Wings are finishing up their 2022-23 seasons as both will miss the playoffs once again. But theyll be back in action in October. The two clubs share Little Caesars Arena, which opened back in 2016.

Conveniently, Little Caesars Arena, Ford Field (the Lions home stadium), and Comerica Park (the Tigers ballpark) are all short-distance walks away from each other. So if multiple Detroit teams are playing on the same day, its awfully easy for you to plan a day around two sporting events.

The state is also home to several prominent college programs, including the annual powerhouse Michigan Wolverines football and hockey teams and the Michigan State Spartans basketball club.

Michigan Is Among The Top States In Affordable Housing

Generally speaking, the state of Michigan offers much more affordable housing options compared to most other states. In Feb. 2020, the U.S. News & World Report ranked Michigan No. 9 on its list of states with the most affordable housing.

According to Zillow, the average price of a Michigan home is $210,135. This is up 6.2 percent from last year, so the trends show that the average value per home will only continue to increase.

Property is one of the safest investments you can make. So if you have the budget, you shouldnt be shy about buying a home in Michigan as opposed to renting a place.

Ann Arbor, about 43 miles from Detroit, is widely regarded as one of the best cities to reside in terms of health, public safety, education, and job opportunity. The state capital, Lansing, and Grand Rapids also offer bang-for-your-buck home prices.

Michigan Has So Many Beautiful Vacation Spots & Nature Sites

If you love local getaways and nature sites, the state of Michigan is just for you.

Mackinac Island in Lake Huron is home to only about 600 people, but this prestigious spot attracts close to one million visitors per year. Mackinac Island, on the list of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, offers a plethora of relaxing activities to its residents and visitors.

Arch Rock, Mackinac Island State Park, and the Round Island Lighthouse are just several of the gorgeous locations on the island to enjoy. Those who love outdoor activities will find all sorts of recreational activities, including hiking trails, biking, swimming, boating, and more.

In Alger County lies the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, which has been designated as a Michigan State Historic Site.

This beautiful area stretches 42 miles and is home to many beautiful waterfalls, including the Miners Falls, the Munising Falls, and the Tahquamenon Falls. There are plenty of camping areas around the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore as well, making it convenient to plan a trip of multiple nights.
