How to scan a document into computer, smartphone, or tablet… for this you must have a scanner or a printer with a built-in scanner connected to your system.
You may utilize built-in Notes app on an iPhone, while Android users can use Google Drive’s scan feature to scan documents.

Method 1 : On Windows

STEPS | PROCEDURE |
1 | Place a face-down document in the scanner. Ensure that scanner is on and connected to computer before proceeding. |
2 | Open Start Windows logo in the bottom-left corner of the screen. |
3 | Type and press fax and scan into Start by searching for the Windows Fax and Scan app. |
4 | Tap Windows Fax and Scan placed at the top of the Start window. |
5 | Tap New Scan in the upper-left side of the Fax and Scan window to open a new window. |
6 | Ensure that the scanner is correct. |
7 | Select a type of document by tapping the “Profile” drop-down box and select the type of document in the drop-down box. Type is Photo |
8 | Decide on document’s color. Tap the “Color format” drop-down box to select either Color or Black and White. |
9 | Select a file type by clicking the “File type” drop-down box, then click the file type like PDF or JPG that is wished to be used to store the scanned document on the computer. it’s best to select PDF whenever scanning anything other than a photo, . |
10 | Change any other options on the page. |
11 | Tap Preview at the bottom of the window to bring up a scan to show you what preliminary scanned document will look like. |
12 | Tap Scan at the bottom of the window to start scanning into computer using selected options and format. |
13 | For finding scanned document. To do so: Open Start Open File Explorer Click Documents on the left side of the window. Double-click the Scanned Documents folder. |

Method 2 : On Mac
STEPS | PROCEDURE |
1 | Place a face-down document in the scanner. Ensure that scanner is on and connected to computer before proceeding. |
2 | Click and Open the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen for a drop-down menu to appear. |
3 | Press System Preferences at the top of the drop-down menu. |
4 | Tap Printers & Scanners which is a printer-shaped icon is on the right side of the System Preferences window. |
5 | Tap on scanner by clicking scanner’s or printer’s name in the left-hand column. |
6 | Press the Scan tab at the top of the window. |
7 | Tap Open Scanner near the top of the Scan tab window. |
8 | Press Show Details in the lower-right side of the window. |
9 | Select a file type by tapping the “Format” drop-down box, followed by clicking a file type (e.g., PDF or JPEG) that you wish to use or to save your file. It’s best to select PDF while scanning anything other than a photo. |
10 | Pick a color by clicking the “Kind” drop-down box at the top of the page and selecting a color option |
11 | Check for the storage location by clicking “Save To” drop-down box and tapping a folder in which you wish to save the scanned document. |
12 | You may change the “Resolution” value or the “Orientation” value. |
13 | Click Scan in the bottom-right corner of the window to begin scanning into the computer. Find it in selected save location when it finishes. |

Method 3 : On iPhone
STEPS | PROCEDURE |
1 | Open Notes by tapping the Notes app icon. |
2 | Tap the “New Note” icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. If Notes opens to a note then tap < Notes in the top-left corner of the screen. If Notes opens to the “Folders” page then go to storage location before continuing. |
3 | Tap plus-shaped icon is at the bottom of the screen. A pop-up menu will appear. |
4 | Click Scan Documents at the top of the pop-up menu. |
5 | Point your hone’s camera at a document to ensure whole document is on-screen. The better well place and centred the document is on-screen, the crispier the scan will be. |
6 | Click the “Capture” button which is a white circle at the bottom of the screen to scan the document. |
7 | Press Keep Scan in the bottom-right corner of the screen. |
8 | Tap Save in the bottom-right corner of the screen. |
9 | Click in the top-right corner of the screen. |
10 | Scroll right and click Create PDF and ensure scrolling from right to left over the bottom row of options and not the top. |
11 | Press Done in the top-left corner of the screen. |
12 | Save scanned document by tapping Save File To… when prompted :- Press iCloud Drive or another cloud storage option. Click Add in the top-right corner of the screen. |

Method 4 : On Android
STEP | PROCEDURE |
1 | Open Google Drive by tapping Google Drive app icon resembling a blue, green, and yellow triangle. |
2 | Select a folder in which you wish to save the scan. |
3 | Tap ? in the bottom-right corner of the screen for a pop-up menu to appear. |
4 | Press Scan, a camera-shaped icon, in the pop-up menu. to open phone’s or tablet’s camera. |
5 | Point the phone’s camera at a document and place it centered in the middle of the screen. Ensure that document is flat and completely on-screen before initializing the process. |
6 | Press the “Capture” button which is a blue-and-white circle at the bottom of the screen to scan the document. |
7 | Tap ? n the bottom-right corner of the screen to save the scan. For more options in the top-right corner of the screen. For adding more pages to the PDF press + and then scan another item. |
8 | Save the scanned document onto phone. |
