Reset router password needs logging into the router and make changes to settings and preferences as needed. The only way to reset the router password is to restore the router’s default settings.
Resetting can generally be accomplished by pressing the reset button on the router itself.

Reset Router Password : Netgear
1 | Power on the Netgear router | Wait approximately one minute for the router to boot up. |
2 | Locate the “Restore Factory Settings” button on your router | It is enclosed in a red circle and labeled accordingly. |
3 | Press and hold “Restore Factory Settings” button | Press for about 7 seconds using a small, thin object like tip of paperclip or a pen. |
4 | Release the button when “Power” light starts blinking | Allow router to fully restart. The router password will be reset when Power light stops blinking and turns solid green or white. The new default router password is “password.” |
Reset Router Password : Linksys
1 | Get “Reset” button on router. | The reset button is a small and circular button normally found on the back of the router & labeled accordingly in red ink. |
2 | Verify the router is powered on | Press and hold reset button for at least 10 seconds. “Power” LED should blink as you press and hold the reset button. Older routers may need to press & hold the reset button for 30 seconds. |
3 | Reconnect the router | Do the disconnect & reconnect to the power source after the reset is complete. |
4 | Wait for “Power” LED to remain in a solid state | It takes approximately one minute after reconnecting the router to its power source. The router password is now reset, and the default password should be left blank while logging into the router. |

Reset Router Password : Belkin
1 | Locate “Reset” button on Belkin router. | The reset button is a small and circular button generally located on the back of the router and labeled accordingly. |
2 | Verify router is powered on. | Press and hold the reset button for at least 15 seconds. |
3 | Wait at least one minute for the router to restart. | Belkin router will be restored to factory settings, and the default password must be left blank when logging into the router. |
Reset Router Password : D-Link
1 | Verify the power mode | Check D-Link router is powered on. |
2 | Press and hold the “Reset” button | For about 10 seconds using a small, thin object like the end of a paperclip or pen. |
3 | Release the reset button | After 10 seconds wait, the router to automatically reboot. |
4 | Wait at least 15 seconds after the router reboots before logging in to the router. | The router password is now reset, and the default password should be left blank when logging in. |

Reset Router Password : Other Router Brands
1 | Check power | Verify that the router is powered on. |
2 | Check router to locate RESET | The reset button is labeled accordingly. Look for a small button or pinhole button that can only be pressed using the end of a pen or paper clip. |
3 | Press and hold reset button for between 10 and 15 secs. | This will restore the router to its original factory settings and reset the password in the process. |
4 | Log into router using default username & password. | In most cases, the default password will be “admin,” “password,” or left blank. Contact router’s vendor directly to get the default password while experiencing difficulty with logging into the router. |
Keep in mind that resetting the router password and restoring the router’s default factory settings will erase settings from the device, like the channel, frequency, and router username. Any settings customized prior to resetting the router must be done again after the reset is complete.
