Crayta User-generated Games: Facebook Gaming brings Cloud Platform

Crayta, a platform that allows players to create, share, and play games with buddies, is coming to Facebook Gaming’s cloud-streaming service.

The collective game-building platform is designed on Unreal Engine 4 and has the characteristics of a library of player-made games users can scan or add to their outcomes.

While Crayta shares the component of game creation with Roblox, it also takes some cues from Fortnite, with the most obvious being its colorful and cartoonish art. It also contains rotating seasons, offers a battle pass, and lets users customize their avatars.

But probably one of the most remarkable — and most unique — about Crayta is that it enables you to share a game with just a single link, allowing your friend to hop right in from their browser.

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, clearly saw some potential with Crayta, as the company shifted all-in with its investment of Unit 2, the UK-based studio, after Crayta last year. Crayta originally debuted as premier for Google Stadia in 2020 but expanded to PC via the Epic Games Store the previous year.

With Crayta open on Facebook Gaming, players won’t have to spend a Google Stadia subscription to play, nor will they hold to download the game to their computer. Instead, the free-to-play game will be hosted by Facebook, demanding only an account to get initiated.

“A lot of times today, people think about the metaverse as 3D experiences you can have in virtual and augmented reality, but I think what Crayta shows is that you can both build and enjoy these kinds of experiences easily on all kinds of 2D environments including just within the Facebook App on phones and computers,” Mark Zuckerberg said in a video demonstrating Crayta’s addition to its cloud gaming forum.

As if its new name couldn’t create it any more obvious, Meta desires to be at the center of the metaverse. Like really bad. While the company already developed the virtual reality company Oculus — and has since rebranded its derivatives under the Meta name — Crayta represents a more minor but still significant investment meant to further establish Meta as a metaverse business (whatever that means).

Meta’s social VR platform, Horizon Worlds, acquired 300,000 users earlier this year, and the fellow app to Meta’s Oculus Quest 2 headset got in more than 2 million downloads during the holidays.

Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday revealed game development platform Crayta which allows players to create, share, and play games with friends, will be open on Facebook Gaming’s cloud-streaming service.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday proclaimed game development platform Crayta which allows players to create, share, and play games with buddies, will be available on Facebook Gaming’s cloud-streaming service.

Crayta would be obtainable on Facebook Gaming as a cloud streaming background. It should be mentioned that Crayta was earlier driven available on the Google Stadia and Epic Games Store.

Crayta, the free-to-play contest, will be hosted by Facebook, representing a user who needs to have an account on the social networking platform to get started. According to the company, Crayta will give a developer toolkit and creates game creation more accessible.

“Excited to launch our Crayta social world and game-building environment on Facebook Gaming. With our cloud-streaming tech, it’s fast to build on both mobile and desktop, even if you don’t have a powerful system. I recently jumped into Crayta with some talented creators to talk about the future of gaming while building Meta’s iconic Hacker Square,” Zuckerberg announced via a Facebook post.

As Crayta now becomes available on Facebook Gaming, users will not have to pay for a Google Stadia subscription to play the game. It also indicates that users do not have to download the game to their computer to play it. Crayta, developed by Unit 2 Games, was formulated by Meta in 2021.

Designed by Unit 2 Games Limited, the game had initially launched as an upscale for Google Stadia in 2020. However, Crayta’s availability was extended to PCs via the Epic Games Store in 2021.
