World Laughter Day : Spread Happiness in the World

World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year to spread happiness in the whole world.

Laughing is one the cheapest and the mildest form of therapy in the world. It has the power of healing not only your soul but also your body. It relieves physical tension, relaxes your whole body, and boosts your immune. It works as an antidote for stress, pain,and conflict. Nothing works faster to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh.

You may have heard the phrase, ‘laughter is the best medicine.’ So laugh whenever you get the chance, even when people give you funny looks, don’t stop laughing. The right kind of person will start laughing too, without even knowing why. Laughter is a universal language.

Every year more than 70 countries around the world celebrate World Laughter Day on the first Sunday of May.

World Laughter Day : History

The World Laughter Day was first celebrated on May 10, 1998, in Mumbai, India. The day was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.

Dr. Kataria is a family doctor in India who was inspired to start the Laughter Yoga movement in part by the facial feedback hypothesis, which postulates that a person’s facial expressions can affect their emotions.
The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive manifestation for world peace and is intended to build up a global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through it. Several community groups regularly practice simple international techniques that promote wellness and overall well-being around the world; these community groups are known as Laughter Clubs.

How is World Laughter Day celebrated?

People usually go to the Laughter club, gather, and laugh together. Several people watch comedy pictures with friends or listen to famous comedians for fun. Some share funny jokes on social media by keeping hashtag World Laughter Day. Many people gather in some parks and perform laughing yoga practice. But this year, due to Coronavirus lockdown, people will celebrate the day on their in their homes.
