How to Save Money on Gaming

gaming

Gaming is one of the most popular hobbies of the 21st century. In the US, around 164 million people play video games, accounting for nearly half of the country’s population. That proportion isn’t enormously high, but it is estimated that there are around 2 to 3 billion gamers around the world.

With the average video game costing around $60 to buy, with microtransactions, subscriptions, and peripherals to pay for on top of that, this hobby can quickly cost you a small fortune. So if you want to enjoy your gaming while spending less, here are some handy tips to follow.

Wait a While

New games are always the most expensive, and publishers know that many hardcore gamers will be willing to pay a premium to get their hands on the latest releases. However, if you can wait a few months, you’ll find lower prices and even special promotions that you can use to save a few bucks.

Use Casino Bonus Offers

If you enjoy playing casino games, be sure to take advantage of the generous casino bonuses and offers that are available to new customers. If you are already a member of one online casino, consider switching to another one to use the sign-up and deposit bonuses it offers.

Switch to Free-to-Play

Free-to-play games have improved a lot in recent years. In the early 2010s, these games were mostly casual games like Candy Crush. Whilst fun, these titles were limited in functionality compared to console releases. Today, things have changed.

Fortnite, Apex Legends, PUBG Mobile, World of Tanks and Call of Duty: Warzone are all examples of free-to-play games that offer the same quality and depth of gameplay as similar paid-for titles.

Call of Duty: Warzone is even built on the same game engine as Modern Warfare, but doesn’t cost $60 to buy.

Of course, you will be asked to pay for in-game items while playing these titles, but it isn’t a necessity.

Trade-In Old Games

When you’re not playing them anymore, trade-in your old games to get some of your cash back. Many video-game stores will offer store credit for any titles you return to them, letting you offset the cost of a new purchase.

Alternatively, you can turn to eBay or Amazon to sell your games for cash. You may also get more money selling them yourself than trading them in, but it can take a little bit more of your time.

Gaming is a fun hobby that can give you countless hours of enjoyment. It doesn’t need to cost the earth though; just follow these tips and you’ll keep more of your hard-earned cash in your pocket.
