Frequently asked questions

What is a salary slip?

A salary slip (payslip) is the monthly statement an employer gives each employee: earnings on one side, deductions on the other, and the net amount actually paid. Banks ask for it when you apply for a loan or a rented flat; new employers ask for it as proof of your last drawn salary.

What should a salary slip include?

The employer’s name, the employee’s name and ID, the month, paid days, an itemised earnings column (basic, HRA, allowances), an itemised deductions column (PF, professional tax, TDS), and the net pay — ideally in words as well as figures. PAN and UAN are commonly included in India.

Is a computer-generated salary slip valid without a signature?

Yes — most Indian companies issue system-generated slips with a standard note that no signature is required, and banks accept them. If a verifier insists, the employer can stamp and sign the printout.

What is the usual salary structure in India?

A common shape is basic salary (often 40-50% of CTC), house rent allowance, conveyance and special allowances on the earnings side; employee provident fund (12% of basic), professional tax (state-dependent, up to ₹200/month typically) and TDS on the deductions side. This tool starts you with those rows — every row is editable.

Is my salary data uploaded anywhere?

No. The slip is built and turned into a PDF entirely inside your browser — names and amounts never leave your device.
