Do you have a standard shirt, tie, and slack combination that you wear on a daily basis? Are you finding yourself somewhat stuck in a rut when it comes to fashion?
Accessorizing might just be able to help you out of the same old boring routine. Adding a few supplemental pieces to your wardrobe is not just for women–but instead can make you a conversation starter on a date, at a work function, or even at the grocery store.
We’re going to tell you the accessories that you should consider adding to your daily ensemble, with some hints on where to find exactly what you’re looking for. Keep reading to find out more!
Jewelry is Always Interesting
Chances are, you have a hobby. It may be traveling, fishing, building furniture, or any other activity you enjoy. A fantastic way to incorporate your love for this activity is to wear it as jewelry.
You don’t have to choose a piece that is decked in diamonds, you don’t even have to choose something that is metal. There are all sorts of bracelets, signet rings, and pendants that can depict what you enjoy without being flashy.
When worn properly, a small piece of jewelry will garner compliments and often have people start conversations about the item. Be careful not to wear too many pieces of jewelry at once as it can be perceived as ostentatious. Typically, you will want to pick only one or two interesting pieces, especially if you are wearing other items like a wedding band, watch, or religious items.
A Timepiece Will Polish Your Look
Watches may seem passe because everyone uses a smartphone to tell the time and date. However, a beautiful, handcrafted watch can help set you apart in almost every aspect of life.
It is worth spending a bit more on a style of watch that you’ll wear on a daily basis and can be used with more formal attire. Although, it is NOT worth spending that money on a brand new piece (unless you really want to!)
Opting for used luxury watches is a smart move if you aren’t willing to sacrifice quality but also don’t like the idea of purchasing a watch for the cost of an economy car.
Before buying any watch–new or used–be sure you know who you are spending your money with. Unfortunately, the watch market is overrun with fakes and high-end replicas that can be difficult to detect if you do not know exactly what to look for.
Cologne Helps to Leave an Impression
If you didn’t already know, your sense of smell is strongly linked to your memory. This means that wearing cologne can help make (or break) someone’s first impression of you.
The key to cologne is finding one that you will wear on a daily basis–your signature scent–and not wearing too much of it. Additionally, it may take some time to figure out which brand works best for your skin’s pH.
One of the best ways to go about this is by asking for samples of various colognes from either a department store or other outlet that sells multiple lines of fragrance. Even if you don’t absolutely love the smell of the cologne right out of the bottle, wear it for a day to see how your body reacts to it.
Don’t forget that there are other ways than cologne to smell nice including aftershave and various strengths of your chosen fragrance. These include Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum; learning the difference may make your shopping experience easier.
Please Wear Proper Socks

Cotton ankle socks and white crew socks are for the gym and cutting grass. When you are dressing up, no matter the occasion, you need the proper socks to help complete the outfit.
Although you think no one will notice what is worn with your shoes, you are wrong. You may inadvertently sit or bend down, letting those socks show and informing the world (or at least the people who witness) that you either are ignorant of the need for the correct socks or don’t care enough about your appearance.
These scenarios are far from what you want people to believe. Therefore, you must wear dress socks.
Generally speaking, you will want to opt for dress socks anytime you are wearing slacks. They should match your pant leg or at least coordinate with your ensemble. If you are choosing to dress casually (think jeans,) a dark sock will fit the bill.
Outerwear for Any Occasion
Most people think of outerwear as heavy coats, snow boots, and other various items to keep warm during a winter storm. This category of clothes also includes fashionable scarves, light jackets, and blazers.
These items aren’t designed just for cold weather but can be worn anytime the weather cooperates and will give you the ability to quickly transform daily workwear into something presentable for a date or party.
When you choose to purchase any blazer or jacket that is meant for a dressier occasion, be sure to ask a sales representative for help with sizing. If you find a jacket you really want, but can’t seem to find one that fits correctly, have it fitted–don’t just wear it as is!
Accessorizing Appropriately
Whether you choose to wear jewelry, fancy socks, designer cologne, elaborate eyewear, high-end watches, or even colorful scarves, remember that less is usually more. It is advisable to mix and match whichever accessories you choose to create a look that is as you unique as you are.
The idea of using accessories is supposed to help complete your ensemble, not create it from scratch. For more advice on fashion essentials, check out this blog!
