WordPress geeks are always excited about the features a new version brings in. WordPress 2.9 is one of the same sort. Its pretty much giving the feel of another step toward perfectness.
Changes Which are coming in WordPress 2.9 for betterment
- Image Editor : Cropping, Resizing and Editing the Image will be easier and only clicks away.
- Post Trash Can: Next time don’t panic if you have mistakenly deleted a post now there’s a Trash Can for the rescue.
- Embedding Videos and Images with oEmbed : oEmbed gives a faster way to insert images and videos like if you want to insert a flickr album in your post you can write the direct url “

- Automatic Database Repairing : wp-config.php file as follows: define(‚”WP_ALLOW_REPAIR‚”, true);. This simple code in config file will take care of database unnecessary inflation.
- Ability to get the thumbnail image for any post using a function: Custom fields and post thumbnail plugins are gonna be gone when the new WordPress version 2.9 is gonna come.
- Ability to create custom post types.
- Ability to add additional metadata for comments and posts.
- Ability to register a theme directory, other than the default one.
So guys gear up for some cool action from wordpress again this time. hopefully they add a inbuilt gallery system also. I have been waiting for it ..

This change will make image editing more effective. Word press always keep in progress to improve their service. Wonderfully described in this post.
I guess it’s kind of handy to edit images within wordpress but the other features look more interesting. I’d be stoked if they could come up with a wysiwyg editor that really is wysiwyg and allowed free positioning of text and images but then that is a tall order.

You can edit the images right in the WP Admin area? That’s actually really cool. I was scared to upgrade because I didn’t want to break my installation, but I think I’m gonna have to do it now.

Yes you can edit images from the Admin area … very easily
Is this already available for download? If it is I’ll try and set it up for a new blog and try to see it’s features..
Its in Beta stage and you can download the beta to use it .. will be out soon
sounds good, the current ms paint of win7 also dose a lot of image editing stuff… so i do the editing stuff off line and upload it, though the other features you mentioned are also good to look foreword to,
will wait till the update is officially available, don’t want to get messed up with the beta release… not much of a coder myself so staying safe lol

I’m amazed at the amount of additions and improvements that they make. All this for free!!! It makes sense that WordPress is the standard.
WordPress is getting seriously excellent. There is no other CMS with such huge capabilities, great SEO, wide range of plugins, that takes like 5 seconds to install!!!

I was using adobe photoshop to perform any kind of changes in the images,and after that i tried WordPress 2.9 and its the best among all
WordPress 2.9 is the best one till now because its easy to use like copying,editing,resizing images are just a few click away.

This is so cool! I’m going to have to upgrade. Some of the features of 2.9 replace some of my plugins. It will be nice to have more memory available.
WordPress 2.9 (Carmen) has some very good improvements. But after upgrading our blogs we had problems with the ping function.
