In my previous post, I tried to explain some useful tips to make a brand successful. Here in this post, I am trying to show some ideas for re-branding. As 2009 passed and 2010 is on roll now, I’m sure you’re thinking about where you will take your business in this year.
You surely spend a lot of time and efforts thinking clients needs, product development, adding new services that you almost forget about your brand. But you know your clients love the new face of yours and I think beginning of the New Year is the best time for a facelift of your brand.
First look!
Have a look at your current promotional material;
- Corporate Identity
- Stationary (Business Cards, Letterhead, Envelopes)
- Brochures
- E-mailers
- Press advertisements
- Packaging designs and other collaterals
Don’t forget to check your website design too because digital presence is almost compulsory for every business. Now think what needs to be revamped? What you need to re-design?

After you’re done planning for your new branding approach, a great idea is to create a buzz by using direct marketing, street shows (collect contact details from every enquirer so that you can keep in touch with them), mailing to your existing and prospecting clients .Also, showcasing your promotional advertisements in Cinema halls is another great idea as you get captured audiences there. Electronic media is still a powerful media; you can AIR your ad in sports and news channels as you get most eye-balls from these channels. Your prospective clients will be impressed with your new look, and you could gain a great deal of business after re-branding.

Rebranding sometimes has adverse effects too if not done properly so surely do a lot of research and market surveys before going for new branding approach.

Re-branding is at times quite a risky exercise. Some times to look better and flashier companies work move too far away from the familiar brand name or even logo. A similar issue is with radically changing the design of a website. Sometimes the new design is so far from the original that loyal supporter are sometimes disappointed.
Thanks Aditya for sharing your views.I would suggest try for new approach when your company’s motives, emotions and strengths are changing rather than just giving refreshing feel to you customers. Also do a lot of research over consumer insights,your target segments before rebranding,it helps you to change as your customers or prospects want you to be.

I like the first Xerox logo and branding but that’s just my opinion. I like the discovery channel new branding.
According to a survey , Xerox’s previous logo was liked by the most of the persons.Xerox’s new logo is more vibrant and with modern look, that’s why I liked the new one
Rebranding can be important to websites, but I find that it is difficult to change too many things on a website without it affecting the search rankings. Do you have any tips for rebranding and not affecting search?
Thanks for sharing your views and I am agreed with you that redesigning of website sometimes affects your current search ranking. But its not compulsory for every time. You can change images, layout and color scheme for your current website and it does not effect your search ranking for sure.
