New Google Chrome Beta learned To Translate Webpage Automatically with Enhanced Privacy Settings

Google has announced  latest beta version of its Chrome web browser two days before. The new version, 4.1.249.1021 Beta, brings two much talked about features. i.e., Automatic Webpage Translation of different languages into your preferred languages and new privacy settings which means now you can control how Chrome handles cookies, images, JavaScript, plugins, and pop-ups for individual sites.

Let me throw some light on these two features one by one.

Automatic WebPage Translation

Google Chrome’s automatic translation functionality will detect when a web page is displayed using a language other than that set as the browser’s default using Google’s translation tools. If this is the case, a toolbaar notification opened in the top most bar of the Google Chrome page and ask, would you like to switch to a machine translated version of the page.

When you click the “Translate” button, it offers you an option via a drop-down menu bar to translate into pre-defined languages, using Google’s translation tools.

Although translation functionality is already available to many browsers via third-party sites or plugins, Google’s built-in service offers one-click translation between numerous languages using its own Google Translate service. And I think it’s very easy and useful to many users out there.

Check out the below video to see a demo that how automatic translation feature worked by Jay Civelli, one of the engineers who developed it.

I believe that this kind of feature will help make all the world’s information universally understandable in a very easy way. In simple words, you can access all the web information into your mother tongue and no chance to miss any.

New Improved Privacy Settings

In addition to Automatic WebPage Translation, the latest Google Chrome beta also enhanced the privacy settings. A new “Privacy” panel are available under “Options” – “Under the Hood”-”Privacy”.

For example. you can set-up rules to allow cookies only to the sites you trust and block from untrusted sites. For that you have to click on “Content Settings” in “Privacy” section.

These new Google Chrome features are now available only for latest beta version, but Google Chrome official blog also states that Automatic Translation features and Privacy settings will also be available for Google Chrome stable release after some weeks.
