How To Implement Twitter @Anywhere On Your Website or Blog in 2 Easy Steps

Twitter’s @Anywhere platform was introduced at SXSW, that time Twitter didn’t release the developer tools. But yesterday, they introduced this service for public which means you can also integrate @Anywhere on your website or blog.

This service currently supports auto-linking of usernames, hovercards which you can see on Twitter.com, follow buttons etc. I think this service is surely make reader’s experience more comfortable and following their favorite writer will be much easier than ever before.

And believe me it’s too simple to setup Twitter @Anywhere and for that you don’t have to be programming genius. Just follow 2 simple steps mention below and you’re done.

1) Quick Registration of your site at Twitter Anywhere website : The first step to enable Twitter @Anywhere is to register your website in Twitter’s Anywhere Dev site.

Sign in with your twitter account by clicking on “Sign in” option in right hand top side of the window. Now click on “Start using it now” and you will be re-directed to a form where you have to submit all the details related to registration of your website to enable Twitter @Anywhere.

Just fill the form as you seen in the below image with your details.

2) Add JavaScript code in your website header and footer : Click on save application in the end of the form after filling it. It will ask you to Accept the terms, just click on “Accept”. As soon as you accept the terms, it will give you JavaScript code which you have to implement on your site.

The JavaScript code which you had to copy is the blue underline text shown in the image below. This will be different in your case. This will enable Twitter @Anywhere service on your website or blog.

<script src="http://platform.twitter.com/anywhere.js?id=YourAPIKey&v=1"></script>

After setting up Javascript code in your Header, the next thing is to add some Javascript code in website’s footer. This will implement links of all users on your website that have a Twitter username with an @ sign. Just copy the Javascript code shown in red underline in your footer.

<script type=”text/javascript”>twttr.anywhere(function(twitter) {twitter.linkifyUsers();}</script>

You are done, it just takes 2 steps to implement Twitter @anywhere and it is working like a charm as you can see by hovering your mouse on @ sign. Nice coverage of @Anywhere. Hopefully “regular” blog owners try it themselves. Don’t really need a developer to implement most of the cool features.

    • Well, I have not tried it on free WordPress themes, but one of my friend tried it in his WordPress theme which is also free. And there @anywhere is working. So, I suggest you to try it also.

        If that’s the case, I think I need your friend’s help because it isn’t working for me and I’ve added two of the widgets. :-/

        Still good to know it’s available, once I learn how to utilize it.

        Thanks,

    Great post. To get the hovercard by mouseover picture event instead of mouseover text, we can try this.
