How To Add New Digg Buttons On Your WordPress Blog Without Plugins

Yesterday, late night I added new Digg buttons and I simply love them. The simple reason I liked the new Digg buttons is just because after clicking you are not redirected to Digg website and a popup can do the Digg job for you.

This post tell you how to add a New Digg button on your wordpress blog. Yes, the code is given on Digg website here. But for some people, going into the code is not fun and they love to have a function ready code, so that they can copy-paste it.

So here’s is code below I am using on my Home Page

<a class="DiggThisButton DiggMedium" href="http://digg.com/submit?url=<?php the_permalink() ?>&title=<?php the_title(); ?>&bodytext=<?php the_excerpt(); ?>"</a>
<script src="http://widgets.digg.com/buttons.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Now the code for the small and long button on my single post page

<a class="DiggThisButton DiggCompact" href="http://digg.com/submit?url=<?php the_permalink() ?>&title=<?php the_title(); ?>&bodytext=<?php the_excerpt(); ?>"</a>
<script src="http://widgets.digg.com/buttons.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

That’s it just copy has the above two codes in your WordPress Loop and you are good to go. Digg is really putting in efforts with its new buttons and announcements about the @anywhere and Open ID integration, so that you can login using 3 rd party services.

Once the Script in inserted in a page then you use any Digg button, any number of times, I have used it below for testing purposes.

I hope now you will be able to add new Digg buttons without any hassles. Let me know if you find any problems in adding it. Also please Digg this article using the Digg buttons below, for your convenience I am putting all digg buttons at once. Happy Digging!

  13. It’s a nice button, but digg buttons are available through addthis.com, perhaps some people think that digg is more popular so it should have a button of its own.

  14. The new button is quiet nice, it makes digg more easy and faster. But in my case, I did not do anything, my digg button just update by itself.

    The latest version of Digg has broken everything. Neither the above code, nor any WordPress plugin buttons are currently working. They’ve really done it this time.
