I have an addiction with my RSS feeds. I generally go over different sites for technology news, blogging sites, political news and lots of others. But frankly speaking, I don’t want to go to www.google.com/reader every time to find what’s new is happening.
If you love browsing website via their RSS feeds using Google Reader, then there is Firefox Extension to stay updated all the time called Google Reader Watcher. It displays pop-up notification for unread items in your Google Reader account.
This extension will display pop-up message for any new unread items. Just right click on the icon on “Check for unread feeds” or “Open Google Reader”.
After installing the installation, go into preferences by right clicking on Google Reader icon and enter your Google account information, you can also filter by label, to choose whether you want to open Google Reader in a new tab or to force a secure connection or to show notification window. Placing you mouse over the status icon will show the updated feeds, and by right clicking on the icon you can directly into that feed in the Google Reader.
So now you don’t have to open your Google Reader every time and still you never miss any new items in your Google Reader account!

Something to look into. Of course Opera has a built-in reader. Personally I use Bloglines – I just can’t get into Google reader. Excellent post!

Well,I have not used Opera till know , but Bloglines looks interesting to me. I surely give it a try.
Is there extensions for Chrome 4 ? firefox is too slow and oldy.

@RRH Oldy? Firefox updates itself frequently as no other browser. Chrome is obviously good and it has also started growing its library for extentions but Firefox is superbly supported with literally thousands of applications to improve your productivity. I think you will find a Google Reader count extension for Chrome too. I think it is already available.

Mac users should take advantage of the RSS options in Apple mail. It collects RSS feeds and stores each post like it would an e-mail.
It looks like Google Reader Watcher is a good solution on the PC side. I’m installing it now.
