Google Chrome Tablet Concepts and Few Features

Google shows off Chrome OS tablet ideas This is a concept UI under development so don’t take it as final. Designs are subject to change at later stage. But its final that Google is under process for making Apple’s iPad life harder. Steve Jobs (allegedly) said that Google’s “Don’t be evil” mantra was “false” at a Town Hall meeting and said Google’s Android team wanted to kill the iPhone – so it sounds like Apple is taking the competition seriously.

Google Chrome Tablet looks pretty sleek & it might be the iPad killer. Google Andriod was also a serious competetion to iPhone but i feel iPhone is a winner in that category till now. But this time Google will not lag behind and in my thoughts Google Chrome Tablet will be the iPad killer.

The above video shows the simple UI (User Interface) design which gives you an idea of what you can expect from Google Chrome Tablet.

Few Features of Google Chrome Tablet

  • Keyboard interaction with the screen: anchored, split, attached to focus.
  • Launchers as an overlay, providing touch or search as means to access web sites.
  • Contextual actions triggered via dwell.
  • Zooming UI for multiple tabs
  • Tabs presented along the side of the screen (see Side tabs)
  • Creating multiple browsers on screen using a launcher

When I saw the pictures, I was excited to see if Google’s direction to text input will differ from Apple’s basic on-screen, virtual keyboard. Until manufacturers can offer a solution comparable to that of a standard, physical keyboard, I believe the Netbook market share will not be in any danger soon.
