Let me start with a flashback of my life. Back in my impressionable youth, I watched a lot of TV. I used to fake illness and spend the day at home watching T.V. That’s where I developed my passion for advertising and still carried a lot of old jingles in my mind. I did all my homework in front of my television (maths was particularly easy to do with tube on).
Ever since, I have been treading the hallowed ground of advertising. In days of my job in a mid-size advertising agency, one of my colleague told me that creativity is only for designers or artists. But according to me, Creativity is not reserved for artist only, anyone can be creative. Yes, I think so and that’s why I started to apply creativity in my resume!
Let me share my creative resume to all of my friends. Hope you will enjoy and let me tell you it worked for me better than my regular resume.
Title of my Resume : Filling Lacuna in your agency
What’s in the name? I shall answer this as we proceed, if you are expecting me to start with my name, career objective, address and blah!blah!blah!, I am not surely the guy you are looking for. I am out to do things differently, so let me do with my resume first.
After doing my B.Sc (IT), ya I know you were thinking being a Technical Executive, Why advertising as a profession? And believe me it’s a long story, I will surely tell you if sometime in the future we get a chance to have a drink together.
So, I set to find a lacuna in any of the ad agencies, as what? Client Servicing Executive! I love advertising and I know I was made for it.
Feb.2006, Good news, I was appointed as a Sr. Client Servicing Executive at Topnotch Advertising, Jaipur, branding and creative design agency. Thanks to my determination and confidence, I was treading into grounds of advertising. Hard work got direction, rhythm and off-course rewards. My first brief was over a phone from Rajasthan Regional Head of Tata- Indicom. “May be this is how it happens”.
The big project in which I got a chance to take brief from Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan ‘Smt. Vasundhara Raje’ for marketing of products made by artisans, a project report on working of BJP Government. This was not the end, even one of the International Fashion Designer named ‘Bibi Russel’ got a chance to meet a charming guy (that’s me off-course) for a project in collaboration with the Government organization.
One and a half year after, I realized – Oh! Man, take some steps forward and march towards, Delhi or Mumbai, for better exposure and growth.
I left.
15 days later. I joined Foresight Communications in Delhi as Sr. Account Executive. Appreciations, criticisms, punishments, rewards, there was everything. Worked on client ranging from Textiles, Real Estate, Consumer Durables to Education Industry.
Opportunity knocks, I got a project to handle photo-shoot with Salman Khan for Mayur Suitings and Shatrugan Sinha for Markson Electronics.
Then I got another opportunity, i.e. to work under a much talked about Creative Director, Santa from LOWE. His approach, ‘Understand the brief Man’, ‘First write, then type’, ‘ Don’t interfere with the designing process’, ‘Do your homework before discussing the brief with the creative team’. I followed the rules, I broke some.
Here, I learnt to shed my ego, understand the client’s point of view, take the nagging, and bear the shouts, how to be on the top of the clients.
One thing more, I am not a target guy. Set me free and sky is the limit. Sales? Targets? No Sir ! Not my cup of tea.
Come to the present day, I am still working in Foresight. Responsible for handling the key accounts of the agency, discussing the product, services and advertising requirements of each particular client. Life has been better, but as the saying goes ’the best is still to come’.
Now, something about me that help us work together better:
1) I am unmarried, no girlfriends, no children
2) I believe in charity and can go to any levels to help people in distress
3) I m god fearing and avoid slang, lies and off-course cheating
4) I am frank but stupid enough to be loud about my feelings
5) I have worked on TVC’s, print media, radio and other promotional stuffs
6) Teamwork really is wonderful
7) I process some print production knowledge, be it relating to the paper, inks, processor and the vendors who can do it
8) I am the type with whom clients feels very comfortable
9) I don’t approach the clients of my previous agency
10) I do smoke or drink occasionally
11) I hate office politics
12) I don’t wear a watch because I don’t believe in 10 to 5 working hours
13) I join a place to stay and grow
14) My number is 09587011100, email – yogeshmankani09@gmail.com
15) A more personal conversation is always helpful, so let’s meet
That was about what I am, coming to the, ’What’s in the name part’. That what I have not mentioned in this document.
Thanks for your time and your time too (readers).
In the end,” Creativity is a natural extension of our enthusiasm.”

I like your attitude on this blog. Creativity is perhaps one of the most important qualities in a resume – especially if it is competing against 100 others.

Thanks for these insights into your life and career and I hope you get the job(s)!

The point of a resume is to show what a person has done in a single glance, and understand all their achievements and job positions. When looking through a pile of job applications NO one is going to read that whole thing, and even if they do its not that impressive. You really havent done much, and your english is atrocious.
so get a proper job, make some proper websites, and then maybe think about a cv that is so long.
also using big words like lacuna which mean very average things is not impressive.

Hey man, stumbled upon your blog when reading a local magazine here in Sweden (believe it or not!). I really enjoyed this read, and it’s a big chunk of inspiration I’ll use for my own resume.
I’m heading for a pilotcareer, and will have to write a kickass resume that’ll make me interesting when applying for a pilotschool here in Sweden. Of about 3,000 yearly applicants, only 10 are accepted to the school. Quite competitive indeed. All applicants will be filtered through IQ-lookalike tests, medical checks and whatnot, till there are about 50-60 people left. This is where I need a really sharp resume. Any pointers as to how I can adapt your imagination style to a resume more fit for my line of duty?
All the best,
Erik
