For the purpose of downloading the video their are quite a few sites which I regularly use. These websites are very easy to use, just copy paste the youtube video url and hit the downlaod button. Some of them also have bookmarklets which enables you to download a video from youtube with a single click on your browser bookmark tab.

I just use Tunebite Youtube Downloader for the job since this one besides being able to download and convert youtube flv videos can also work as a Youtube to mp3 ripper and convert youtube flv to mp3 files I can use on my pc, mobile devices etc:

My fave is Animoto for creating videos out of pics and then uploading them to YouTube. It;s easy free and great for when you need a quick video on the fly for an article or page.
Clip Nabber is excellent to download from most of the video sites, Even we can download youku videos from this site i think..I tried a couple of times and it always worked with clip nabber.

Sadly a lot of these sites aren’t working very well anymore. I used to use ClipNabber a lot, but it started changing a lot and now you need a special link to get to the ‘classic’ ClipNabber (browser based instead of download). Now I use KeepVid more often.
