GotFreeFax.com also allows user to send free fax online to the US and Canada. User can either upload a PDF/Word file or enter text to fax. Plus, it does NOT add Ads to user’s fax and is suitable for faxing formal documents.

    • Steve B. says:

When I was unable to use FaxZero.com due to a service outage, I tried GotFreeFax.com and was very pleased. It’s really similar to FaxZero in terms of look and feel, and it has the added bonus of NO ads on outbound fax cover pages. This is a truly free service, but there are limits on the amount of free usage per day. For the occasional outbound user, this is an excellent option. Thanks for the suggestion, James!

I use MaxEmail to fax online. It’s not a free service, but you get what you pay for (or don’t) with online fax services. I’ve had several important documents not make it to their destinations of time while using free services…

  22. Terry says:

Some people say that nowadays that fax machines are dead now and nobody use them, but I think they are wrong. Not only are fax machines still in existence, they are also used quite extensively by many businesses. The fact is that it is simply not possible to send certain types of documents by any other means. But obviously there are several disadvantages associated with fax machines. You need a fax machine, toner and paper. The machine needs to be maintained well. Once a fax is received, it has to be manually copied and sent to different people if they should all view it. Not to mention the hassle of filing paperwork.
Fax to email service is an easy alternative to traditional faxes. It sends and receives faxes just as normal fax machines do, but it also combines the ease of email. You receive faxes that are sent from an ordinary fax machine directly to your email inbox. You can also configure the settings so that the faxes may be received by multiple recipients. Not only are you receiving faxes using superior technology, but you are also cutting down on the paper and toner costs.
Fax to email service is available on 0800 numbers, 0844 numbers and 0845 numbers.

    • N. Gesner says:

What can a fax do that a scanner and e-mail can’t do? I only use fax when absolutely necessary. Instead, I scan the document to my computer as a PDF file and then e-mail it. The recipient doesn’t have to waste toner on printing unless he requires a printed file of the document. As a property manager, I e-mail a lot of receipts, work orders, etc., and it’s all stored electronically instead of printing a copy or faxing a copy. Much better for the environment, reduces costs, and improves quality.

      • gnubi says:

I also prefer to use the methods you have described above for email and attachments. However, I deal with clients and vendors who are wary of viruses and will not open attachments.

      • daphne says:

it’s a security thing. regulations in the medical, legal, etc. industries do not allow transmission of secure data by email. there are also various features with higher volume services that allow for easier integration with a company’s platform – e.g. barcode scanning. and of course if you use an online service, there is no printing.

  37. Sameer says:

You must be planning to put an end to usage of your fax machine once you bring in your non-geographic telephone number for your business. Think before you act!! There are many kinds of documents that cannot be sent by any other medium other than a fax machine. Don’t get frustrated if you still have to retain your old fax machine. Non geographic numbers are very flexible in use. They can be connected to your fax machine for uninterrupted document receipts and distribution of the same throughout your organization that too without any human intervention. Unbelievable!!
Hosted telephony systems are designed for seamless data and voice transfer. Fax to email is one such feature that allows you to point your fax to your email ID through your non geographic telephone number. All incoming fax will directly be sent to your email ID or to everyone’s email ID in the organization without requiring a receptionist. Imagine the time and money saved through this feature. Moreover it can handle multiple inbound faxes efficiently without any intervention at any time of the day, holiday or when the whole office is empty.
Fax to email feature is available on all 0800 numbers, 0845 numbers and so on and can be a cost effective way of handling faxes for small and large enterprises equally.

  38. No Free Fax Services Here says:

All but one of these services are not free, except for introductory trials. The headline and intro are blatantly wrong.
    BTW, wonderfax is UK only.
(Noncomprehensive browsing the services tells me GotFreeFax [free outgoing fax] and Faxage may be cheapest for low-volume users; Faxage still costs more than $50 yearly.)

  39. Lorraine Thompkins says:

None of these are free with the exception of Wonderfax which only supplies UK numbers. Does anyone know of any truly free fax services?

  40. eFax has free service says:

Efax has a free service for receiving faxes, but you have to agree to receive advertising emails. It’s not obvious on their website.
They cancelled my free account without notifying me. When I griped at them, I found out the free service still exists. You can find it with a Google search, too. Their customer service is freehelp@mail.efax.com.
I haven’t used this one, GotFreeFax [free outgoing fax], but it’s supposedly free.

    • daphne says:

They also have a large file send service that supports up to 1GB (files are just hosted online and a link to download is emailed to the recipient). I think it requires a paid account though.

I have been using this service for the last year and found it to work perfectly. It’s worth the cost of $1.00 per month for unlimited incoming faxes since I am a real estate broker and most of my faxes are incoming. For only $12 bucks a year, it takes out the guess work of any thought that I would have to pay more. I have been searching for a “real” free solution for years and have not found any. I had Pfax for 10 years and it was purchased by MyFAX and they bumped up my rate from unlimited $3.95 a month to $6.95 a month, so, I did some searching and found OneSuite. It does the same thing Myfax does and does it for only 1 buck a month. Check it out here: https://www.onesuite.com/B0BF84589/suitetreat . Yea.. if you click on the link they do give me a little credit towards my $1.00 dollar a month account. Sign up and you can do the same… Maybe, it’s 5 cents.. Offer your own link and cut the cost down to nothing. This is coming from a real user… It works great..

It’s nice you put together this this list, but it’s inaccurate. When you say: “They allow users to send 100 free faxes per month and receive 200 for free”, it’s really sending 100 and receiving 200 is included in the monthly fee.
